Spearmint Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 With the mild summer we had I decided to head out and check the progress of the fungi. Normally I'd be doing this in approximately a month from now, but it was good to see there was quite a bit already out. Now I know I'm going to wallowing around in the mud for the next few months chasing fungi #1 This is one I'd not come across before #2 #3 #4 5

likwidsh0k Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Cannot wait for spring to get started, looking through my PB this morning and this pic reminded me of what we have to look forward to Fantastic pic @@mondie, both the spectacular scenery and the picture itself... I am not a photographer by any means, so apologies as unsure if its the correct wording but the composition, all the different things we see all captured perfectly in that frame, is brilliant Edit: This has inspired me to spin some Led Zep Edited March 9, 2015 by likwidsh0k 2

I use the same 70 - 300 on a D7100 as you do and find it's not bad at all in good light below 240 mm or so. I would like something that had a nicer bokeh and is a bit faster but the costs go up substantially.
ArthurDent Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Thanks GAT474. Thought I'd try something new as in sport/action shots and yes the jump to a gold band and gold N is a big one. Even the 70-200 f4 will set you back an extra $1k and another $1k to go to the f2.8 and you're losing the 50 or so usable mm at the long end. I'd really like a 80-400 but can't justify the $3k price tag and the limited use it would get. As long as you work within the limitations of the 70-300 it ain't a bad lens and for the price many consider it one of the few real bargains in the Nikkor range. Edited March 11, 2015 by KenTripp
