Testing out the new 16-35 lens:

35624119584_7f3a214fa7_b.jpg

Nikon D750 camera + Nikkor 16-35 lens @ 16mm, f/8, ISO 100, 10 seconds. Played around a lot with colour on this one, so not natural looking at all :P

I like the extra reach of the 16-35/4 over the 20/1.8, although it's not quite as sharp, and doesn't handle points of light as well

Had to get a shot of T Whitten Bridge for a client, Was only doing a location scout to work out a time but I was playing around with the HDR settings on the canon 5D MK3. Works great! only wish I bought a wider lens than the 50mm.

In lieu of a wide angle lens, you could always take a few shots and use a panoramic stitching program like Microsoft ICE (freeware)

I usually avoid anything microsoft.
stitching in photoshop would have been fine but multiple exposure was pushing it too far with computer work for me already - I usually send my files off to a retoucher and this job didn't have time for a retoucher.

All good - just trying to be helpful...

Getting even lower tech. My first tries at alternative processing from the 19th century.

Vandyke Brown print, F250 8x10 pinhole camera.

Sun flowers in Vandyke Brown pinhole

Starting to get the hang of it, still a little blotchy.

Hahnemuhle 300 Platinum Rag 8 x 10 inch.

Vandyke Brown sensitiser, home mixed.

Contact print

UV lamp exposure 6mins, little dodge and burn. Ferri petals.

F250 pinhole, 8x10, arista edu 100, 1. 5 hour exposure.

xtrol 1:1 drum roller.

With gold Toner and put the neg into the contact print frame back to front.

Sunflowers in gold tone over vandyke brown, pinhole.

Better more even, tried out the gold toner, home mixed.

Hahnemuhle 300 Platinum Rag 8 x 10 inch.

Vandyke Brown sensitiser, home mixed.

Lovely shots. Where do you get to find such a good assortment of birds?

Thank you.

These were taken at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne, the post from yesterday were from French Island, and the ones from last weekend were from The Briars in Mt Martha.

EDIT: There were a number of other bird varieties which I also photographed at these locations besides the ones I post here. The variety should also increase as we head into Spring.

Grey goshawk (white morph)

Peregrine falcon

Taken at the Raptor Rehab centre.  Not sure about the peregrine, but the Grey Goshawk had been hit by a car, was concussed, but able to be set free again after a couple of days.

cheers
