petetherock Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Anyone getting this? https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-4k/ Free upgrades of your existing movies to 4k!
Guest psychobilly Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Very tempting but my Apple TV is way under utilised Also, the TV app opened up to only 7 angmo countries to date
kzone Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 yeah me too. Mainly use it for Netflix and the occasional you tubes... no interesting apps ah
m0j0_vin Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 I plan to buy it as soon as it's available. I bought a number of movies for my kids and I use it to rent movies.
wizardofoz Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Siri still is not usable for the ATV4 unit in Singapore...WTF
Count Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Will get it once I get a 4K screen or projector. Upgrade of existing itunes movies to 4K is sweet!
kardtoon Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 yeah me too. Mainly use it for Netflix and the occasional you tubes... no interesting apps ah Youtube will only playback at 1080p on this box. The codec Youtube uses for 4k isn't compatible with this apple TV.
htng Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Is the price of movies in iTunes cheaper than amazon? If yes, I don’t mind since they release so fast
Guest psychobilly Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Seems that ATV4K has issues that people are complaining in some forums Better wait 1st Anyway no date for local availability
Guest queks Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Its available to order from apple. Delivery only, no self pickup
Lam1n1n Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Looks like still not supporting Atmos and DTS-X. Nvidia already has that.

Guest psychobilly Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 What issues bro? some discussions over in macrumors....... https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/so-who-is-returning-their-atv-over-the-switch-issue.2071619/
Ccyao Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Seems like Infuse Pro allows streaming of 4k content from NAS. Not sure whether it supports HDR though. Anyone tried this? Tempted to get one to play. Infuse Pro 5 by Firecore, LLChttps://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/infuse-pro-5/id1136220915?mt=8 Unfortunately, still does not support Dolby Atmos and DTS-X. Seems like 64gb model is out of stock in Singapore. Btw, anyone knows whether Denon X7200WA can pass through DV signal if I have a DV tv? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Doggie Howser Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Seems like 64gb model is out of stock in Singapore. Australia too. Any reason to go for bigger unit? Does it store movies locally? So far only used it for streaming. Btw, anyone knows whether Denon X7200WA can pass through DV signal if I have a DV tv? Firmware to support DV is expected to be out Spring 2018 I think. Same as the 8802A
Ccyao Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Australia too. Any reason to go for bigger unit? Does it store movies locally? So far only used it for streaming. I will be using it mainly for streaming as well. But since the price difference is only SGD30, to me, it’s worth to get another 32gb. That’s less than $1/gb. I may download games on it. :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Doggie Howser Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I got it originally for the non 4K TV hence the 32GB was fine. Might get the 64GB when it gets back in stock for the Media room.
petetherock Posted December 31, 2017 Author Posted December 31, 2017 IIRC, still no Dolby Atmos and DTS-X right?
Ccyao Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Ya. Still no. [emoji26] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest comfortablynumb Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 64GB seems to be oos everywhere So ordered from Lazada and arrived at the door 3 days later With the latest fw upgrade to 11.2, I have no complains Now that Apple promised Atmos, I am patiently waiting
Ccyao Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I got mine from Apple Store last week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tsammyc Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Apple Store was out today. But the reseller iStudio next door in Paragon has plenty.
tsammyc Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I just picked up the Apple TV 4K and have some questions with the cables. I have two Monoprice cables. One is the Slim High Speed Cable 18Gbps and the other is DynamicView Active High Speed Cable, 4K, HDR, 18Gbps. Only the DynamicView works on 4K 60Hz HDR at 4:2:2 Chroma. The slim cable, while certified for 18Gbps will only do 4K 60Hz HDR at 4:2:0. I originally bought the DynamicView for installing somewhere else in the house so is there any advantage to watching 4K movies at 4:2:2 instead of 4:2:0? Lastly, the Apple TV 4K can also drive 4:4:4 Chroma on 4K 60Hz SDR. Am wondering if anyone has noticed the sharpness difference between 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 and whether it is worth the loss of HDR? Getting the right HDMI cables for the Apple TV 4K at a reasonable price can be a challenge!
