desray Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Alternate remote anyone? https://www.macrumors.com/2019/12/09/salt-tv-alternative-apple-tv-4k-remote-control/ If you are a iPhone user, there is a FOC remote that mimics the actual ATV physical remote and much more responsive.
bluepill193 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I hate the touch pad remote, have to scroll slowly or sure will skip your selection. Too bad not iPhone user...
sijusid Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I hate the touch pad remote, have to scroll slowly or sure will skip your selection. Too bad not iPhone user... I use the hdmi cec function to use my TV remote to control ATV, once it is switched ON, specially for browsing through contents.

HDMI CEC can be a hit and miss.. https://support.apple.com/en-sg/guide/tv/atvb0410f604/tvos
bluepill193 Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 I use the hdmi cec function to use my TV remote to control ATV, once it is switched ON, specially for browsing through contents. Yes it works with my tv remote too! Thanks for the tip
Guest comfortablynumb Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Is there other use of the ATV, if your primary need is just to watch Netflix with DV and Atmos and your TV 's Netflix app already support the 2 formats?
Doggie Howser Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 I e found buffering is better on my ADSL connection. With AppleTV it always feels like HD or UltraHD from the start. It would start off a bit more blocky on my TV’s app

tsammyc Posted December 25, 2019 Posted December 25, 2019 Recently managed to get Alexa to control Apple TV 4K through Harmony Hub
Muncher Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Hi I have an Apple 4K TV that when connected to my Onkyo AVR 820 shows resolution is only 1080p. But when direct connection to my LG C7 shows 4k resolution. How do I fix this. My Oppo has no issues to output 4K via AVR to the TV. Thanks all
Doggie Howser Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Munchified, the AVR is not HDMI 2.0/HDCP2.2 compliant, is it?
Muncher Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Munchified, the AVR is not HDMI 2.0/HDCP2.2 compliant, is it? I checked the manual and all the HDMI supports HDCP2.2
petetherock Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 Can you take a screenshot of the settings on the ATV and Onkyo? Especially the video / HDMI settings?
Muncher Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Can you take a screenshot of the settings on the ATV and Onkyo? Especially the video / HDMI settings? I realized after updating my AVR and TV firmware this is no longer an issue and now could enjoy 4k ! Yay! Thanks
Doggie Howser Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 I e found buffering is better on my ADSL connection. With AppleTV it always feels like HD or UltraHD from the start. It would start off a bit more blocky on my TV’s app At this age, still has ADSL? When I had a crappola ADSL connection, I always preferred watching on the AppleTV vs the apps on the Sony/LG TV or on the XBox One X Apple seemed to have better buffering and although I was told I couldn't get UHD/4K on my old ADSL, the TV apps/XBox said I was getting UHD after about 4-5 minutes of watching. The AppleTV always looked as good from start to finish whereas the TV/XBox apps would start off a bit more grainy before slowly getting to the same quality at the end. Our national broadband fibre network finally hit the curb outside the home late January and I finally got it hooked up this week. The standard speed was 45Mbps typical and I got them to turn on the 100Mbps boost option. Last night I turned on DisneyPlus on the AppleTV (4K) hooked up to my HT with a Sony 760ES projector to watch the first couple of scenes from Mandalorian, Rogue One and Episode 4. And I noticed MAJOR MAJOR upgrades on the video quality. Perhaps the biggest improvement was in Episode 4. I already had the movie on the FullHD BluRay from a number of years back but holy crap.. the amount of wear and tear on C3PO and R2.. the smudges on Vader's mask (including how badly constructed it was) and even scuff marks on the Stormtroopers uniform.. was just uncanny.

Ctv Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 Which VPN are you using on Apple TV for Disney+ as there is no native app? It's hit and miss on my SmartDNS service Sent from my SM-T510 using Tapatalk
Doggie Howser Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 I used Express VPN when I was in Singapore - just a trial. Seemed decent. But I was downloading on the phone
petetherock Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 Just wondering if anyone else had issues with their streaming today? My 4k movies looked like DVDs tonight.. And it's not my wifi or LAN... I'm getting 1.2 Gb on LAN and 500 on wifi..
petetherock Posted June 4, 2020 Author Posted June 4, 2020 FYI if you have iTunes USA, Just Mercy is free to rent..
