Sunblock Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Zidoo is almost unheard of, unlike Popcorn, eGreat and Himedia. Wonder if it is as reliable as Popcorn. What will be consequences of eGreat if there is no HDMI licensing? The existing unit will still function as is it. In principle the HDMI.org ensures all HDMI products undergo defined compliance testing and unlicensed products are not to be sold because they can “damage” the connecting device eg avr, hdmi switcher, HDTV, etc. So will it damage the hdmi port of your connecting equipment? In short ... it is not a “genuine” hdmi because it is made outside the hdmi specification and the risk is yours to take as this single cable carries audio and video signals from the device to a HDTV or surround sound system.

desray Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 now this sounds familiar, that's probably why there have been feedback that their avr/tv end hdmi port has been damaged... Yes, agreed with Bro Sunblock. I will not recommend Egreat A10 to members here if this is indeed the case. Be safe than sorry. Features and functionalities of A10 exceeds my expectations and I'm very satisfied with it performance but risk damaging the AVR is totally unacceptable. Once again, I urge members to consider getting either the Zidoo or the Himedia at this point. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

Wilber Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 good news guys.. Zidoo has another upcoming firmware with awesome filled in. Definitely more promising than other brands of media players right now. basically, the upcoming HomeTheatre 2.0 is a much better version and you can get rid of using zbmc or whatever you're using as this is going to be much better. it matches better and you can now manage your library even on PC and phone. the new control center basically all control in your phone or pc and even Control4! this is based on beta 2.0.5, i don't suggest you to upgrade yet, wait for the stable version. ,Fix Douyu crash problem. 2,Update HomeTheater2.0 and control center Player: 1,Add a function to export internal text subtitles from videos 2,Add a Chinese language into media info. Wilber Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Thanks bro wilber. As u have used this b4, can u advise what is the main diff bewteen the zidoo, the himedia and egreat? Taking the plunge to get one but dunno which to get personally i feel that most will concern are - chipset - features - product support - ultra/blu-ray full menu support - lastly PRODUCT COST i feel all are good, if you've the budget to go with the majority, why not?

kopidilo Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Just received my X9S:) First impressions, - build quality is excellent for a $170 player. Very sleek looking - menu was easy to navigate and use, all in English - could playback all HDR/4k files easily - OS is quite fast - remote is very easy to use too - HDMI sync and connectivity, pretty good, not much issues. one issue i faced on video resolution. >> When i set the video resolution to AUTO and played a 4k/HDR file, the video turned pinkish. I had to manually set it to 2160p 60hz then it will play correctly. What video resolution setting did you use Wilber?
Wilber Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 at last your toy is here! hmm so far for FHD resolution, there was no issue. i can't comment on 4K now but soon. anyway, Zidoo is aware of the problem and they will rectify the issue.
Wilber Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 perhaps you should just set a fixed resolution instead of Auto now.
kopidilo Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 perhaps you should just set a fixed resolution instead of Auto now. Ya man. Set it to 4xxx x 2160p as default. What frequency should I put?
