Heavy, well made piece of gear..

Very fast, it will ask you for an update once you start up..

I wonder if it will allow you to access Netflix USA, has anyone tried?

The player just arrived this evening, didn't expect it to reach so fast as i havent bought a stepdown voltage transformer.

May i know which brand are you all using?  I saw super star and super seven brand in SLT, not sure which is reliable.

Bro,

Appreciate if you could share after you got the transformer. Looking for a relatively small and reliable one before I pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, tried Netflix. But it's only content available for our region.

You need vpn to access to usa content.

Have not setup my vpn yet, waiting for my whizcom installation only on 1st Dec.

Bro, Netflix will not work on VPN. They have a way to detect and block it.

One last question on Netflix, how do I know if I'm on usa content or localized content?

Any example of series that is not accessible locally?

Went to SLT this afternoon and bought the super star 120 watt voltage transformer for $28.

Played movies for 3 hrs, everything looks fine.  One thing i notice that it can played those mp4 files that my baru player is unable to play  :D

by the way, using coaxial out for audio is better or just use the hdmi will do?

Pulled the trigger and bought the Sony UHD player from Amazon for USD149.99.

As encounterd by some bros, was charged shipping when cart out.

Chatted with CSO & after verifying that the item page indeed indicated free shipping to SG, was told to go ahead & place the order & the shipping will be waived. Did that with the CSO till on the chat, gave the order number & got shipping charge waived immediately.

Kudos once again to Amazon's stellar customer support & empowering CSOs to make such quick decision.

Latest update was player has been shipped out with ETA 6 Dec....yeah early xmas gift for myself ;D!

Bought a step-down transformer at the same time. Until some brave souls try plugging the unit directly to the power outlet here without frying it, will stick to inconvenience of using a transformer.

I've took the plunge and also bought the Sony UBP-X800 from Amazon @ USD149.99 too on Black Friday. However, the encounter I had with Amazon was slightly different.

1. I was charged shipping right from the start. (maybe bcoz I coupled the purchase of the X800 with a 2.0 HDMI cable and a few 4K discs?)

2. X-800 is out of stock. Shipping date is indefinite at this point of time.

Nevertheless, I placed the orders and chatted with Amazon CSO and I was told the following:

- shipping charges waived. However, I must write in to Amazon customer service upon receipt of my items to claim back the shipping charges. A log has been opened with Amazon.

- courtesy credit of USD15 with Amazon added to my account for the next purchase for the "inconvenience" caused.

- X-800 placed on priority order to be shipped once it's in stock.

In additional:

- I tried to purchase a step down converter from Amazon, but was unsuccessful. It was indicated that Amazon cannot ship such item to SG.

- I chatted with CSO from Sony USA. Apparently, the X-800 sold in  Amazon is 110V. The dual voltage type that you read earlier up in this thread is modified to 100V-240V from other merchants, NOT FROM AMAZON.

Just checked-out my X800.

Mine arrived last night. I bought a couple of step-downs from Mustafa last week (60 and 100W). These were 220<->110V. I had a close look at the label, and it said 120V so I was a little worried, and tested it for an hour plus first, before installing it in the Blu-ray shelf. The player is built well! Heavy and substantial.

Played The Last Night, and now I think I need a new TV. Mine's second-gen 4k from LG, and it's not quite HDR enabled. Pic was nice, not great, and I don't think I can reliably tell the difference.

Also, I was a little disappointed because non of the Sony's come with analog RCA outputs. I use those sometimes.
