mikeyip Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Actually can. The first few CSO said the same thing to me until the 5th or 6th CSO waived it off for me. Sometimes depends on the CSOs you talk to...some go strictly by the book while others are more helpful/flexible. The CSOs you spoke with are right in that there is a size and weight constraint in order for an item to qualify for free shipping to SG. But when I ordered my set, it was clearly stated on the item page that it qualifies for Free Intnl Shipping to SG (why...I dun know nor care :P). And when I highlighted it to the CSO (sent him the pdt link during the chat), he honoured it & removed the shipping charge after I placed the order (all done while he was still online with me during the chat). Unfortunately the Free Intnl Shipping to SG line is no longer on the X800 page...either because Amazon realised the mistake and removed it OR because the item is OOS so it cannot be reflected as such. Hence the size/weight constraint applies but if you are persistant enough, 1 of the CSOs you chat with might finally relent (as in the case of bro strike55 I quoted abv). Anyway here is a link to the Sony UBPX1000ES 4K Player just to show the free intnl shipping to SG line that was reflected in the X800 page previously. I referenced the product page where it mentioned free shipping and got my shipping waived. However, I also now see that Amazon has updated the product page to indicate a shipping cost. Still a good price for a Sony 4K player even with shipping. Anyway, I just pull the trigger and ordered it this morning. It seem the last CSO which I had talk to, had issue me a $10.00 off coupon. Order Summary Item(s) Subtotal: $185.50 (SONY X800 + 4 pcs HDMI 4K Cables + Travel Smart 50-Watt International Transformer) Shipping & Handling: $33.51 Courtesy Credit: -$10.00 Total before tax: $209.01 Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00 Grand Total: $209.01 I wasn't aware Amazon has pull out the FSSG for all items today, but I'm sure the shipping charges is the same amount when I place the order last night. Really count myself lucky...
jdc115 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Maybe this is why the free shipping option is going away, they want you to sign up for Prime Singapore: http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/amazon-prime-service-makes-debut-singapore?cid=emarsys-today_TODAY%27s%20morning%20briefing%20for%20Dec%206,%202017%20%28ACTIVE%29_newsletter_06122017_today So now, the Prime membership will give customers access to more than five million products listed on Amazon's site in the United States. Customers who make orders above S$60 using the Prime Now app will not have to pay global shipping fees. The free two-hour delivery on orders over S$40, between 10am and 10pm daily via the Prime Now app, will also apply to Prime members. These services would be sought now that the American retailer has ended its Free AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping service to Singapore. Customers used to get free global shipping for orders above US$125 (S$168).
lcheetec Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I pulled the trigger on a couple of transformers, PowerPac, quite reasonable, from the DIY store basement of Tampines One. Played several Netflix movies last night, plus Lone Survivor. All went went, transformer only slightly warm, despite the output being 110v (and the Sony being 120v). Other thing is, also disabled the Child-Lock. Great feature, but baffling that default is enabled. Going to kiss Free Amazon shipping. Just after the Sony, I also bought an Emotiva BasX Pt-100 preamp. This one, according to both Amazon and the Emotiva website, is dual voltage. Sent from my MI MAX 2 using Tapatalk
trickle Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Does anyone know if there is anyone who provides bluray region mod service for the X800 so that it can play blu-ray discs from other regions (B and C)?
stereoman2 Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Need to check as some VPN(s) do work with Netflix etc

petetherock Posted December 16, 2017 Author Posted December 16, 2017 Does anyone know if there is anyone who provides bluray region mod service for the X800 so that it can play blu-ray discs from other regions (B and C)? You can buy a region free version online for about 350 USD. Go and search for it. There is No software mod. It's in the player, so if you own one already, you will have to sell yours and buy from that store..

jigster Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Is the universal X800 this one you are refering to? SONY X800 2K/4K UHD - 2D/3D - Wi-Fi 2.4/5.0 Ghz - Clear Audio - Multi System All Region Blu Ray Disc DVD Player 100-240V 50/60Hz Auto https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JGXQ0SM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_eyDnAbPHA6101 You can buy a region free version online for about 350 USD. petetherock Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 That's one source. If you google, there are many non amazon sources. Just pick one that ships. Or keep a separate region free player like the "Laser" brand from Oz.
jigster Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Although the title says X800, the product description is of the older model UHP-H1.. i find that very misleading

petetherock Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 It's back to US 149. Even with shipping costs it's cheap. Esp since we don't need that transformer..

David88 Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Hi, anyone selling Sony u-x800 4K uhd player, please contact David 97503128. Thanks
jigster Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Also Amazon unit? Mine went into the 220VAC socket as well...still alive.... (Audio)
Audio Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Also Amazon unit? My unit is from Walmart at US$299. (Audio)
petetherock Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Unless someone from Sony Singapore or USA reports in, no one can guarantee that it's a universal voltage unit. But given all the positive anecdotal reports, it's good news. Pity that it doesn't do DV, otherwise it's a solid unit.
