thanks for the detailed reply [emoji4][emoji106] i do intend to stream from my NAS but it is good to know of the further capabilities of the Zappiti should I ever need to pop in a SATA drive inside of it. i like the idea of using a docking station but would such a device be limited to drives which are 3TB and below? the ones being sold on Zappiti's site can only read a maximum of 3TB. which kind of defeats the purpose when the player itself can handle up to 16TB per drive.

I’m not sure about your movie viewing experience but for me, I rarely run out of hard drive capacity because I usually remove a few older titles when I upload newer titles.

Don’t be tempted by this >16TB support etc etc. To me, the bigger capacity may not necessary be a good thing if the drive becomes corrupted at some point. Imagine doing a scandisk function to repair some common drive errors will take forever for such a huge capacity. IMO a 6TB hard drive is the max I will go at any one time. If you require more, just purchase another 6TB drive to top up.

I usually stream normal Blu-ray 1080p rip and store it in my NAS and stream it to my media player. For higher bitrate and file size like say a BD ISO files (full rip), I will stick with external HDD like using a docking station or even a portable USB drive to take advantage of the USB 3.0 speed.

Hi. I am looking for the media player to ripping my old DVD instead of keeping so many disc at home due to space constraint . Before I planning to get Zappiti media player, may I know is the Zappiti require any additional software for ripping Blu-rays or Dvd?

Another question is whow to ripping BR or Dvd into the Zappiti media player?  Or I need to plug in an external dvd driver via USB 2 and 3.0 ports to ripp it to the player ? Thanks.

P.S I never buy any media play before, so this is the first time and consider to get one for ripping Dvd or BR.

You are looking at the wrong place...If you want a solution on ripping bluray/dvd/cd to NAS, there are other s/w like MakeMKV and AnyDVD HD from RedFox to do it but that's a whole different topic altogether. If money is not a concern for you, Zappiti has this NAS Rip including ripping of 4K physical disc and cost a lot (about S$4.2K+). For details: https://zappiti.com/zappiti-nas-rip-4k-hdr.html

Hi. Bro Desray. Can I ripping the movies to my PC HD and use the HD to the Zappiti media player? Thanks.

Zappiti supports internal or external drives so long it is formatted to the compatible file system. In fact, no need to even move the hard disk, so long the computer and media player are connected to the same network, can playback as well.

No need to do that...simply rip the movies and then transfer the content to say an external HDD or you can transfer to a NAS for direct streaming. Zappiti media player supports BDMV/DVD ISO file structure for playback.

You can rip the movies using your computer. Store them in your internal hard disk in your computer. Playback via the movies via the media player so long your computer remains powered on and both the computer and media player are connected to the same network. The media player can access the hard drive via SMB.

Of cause you can rip all the movies into a hard disk that is connected internally or externally. Internally meaning via data connection. Externally meaning via USB/eSata etc.

Once you are done with it; add the hard disk internally or connect the hard disk externally to media player. The question is if you have only one hard disk in your computer, you can’t move that to media player.

Hi desray

Seems like this is viable for me since I will need to buy a NAS and a PC which i guess will be roughly the same price and remove the hassle of using a PC. After reading the materials, i have some questions which i hope u could advise.

a. Must the media player be a Zappiti?

b. Is the built in BD drive region locked, I have Region A and B bds

c. Is that model available in Singapore?

Thanks

Take note, I have not used this Ripping NAS from Zappiti before. But if you asked me, I’ll venture a guess:

a. Must the media player be a Zappiti? - Not necessary UNLESS Zappiti has some restrictions on their custom Ripping NAS which prevents normal media player that utilise SMB or NFS protocol to communicate with the NAS.

b. Is the built in BD drive region locked, I have Region A and B bds - Good question. No idea. But ripping 4K UHD physical disc is likely possible without any need to bypass some form of AACS since it is region free. For DVD and CD rips, it should be fairly easy. The only problem I can foresee is the Blu-ray Discs which comes with Cinavia watermarks etc. Nevertheless you can drop them an email or fill up the contact form in their website and they will respond to you. One thing good about Zappiti support as opposed to MIC media players like Zidoo or Egreat, the french really respond to customer inquiries. But be specific in what you intend to ask. After all, English is not their main language but in the few dealings with them, they understand Singaporeans quite well. LoL.

c. Is that model available in Singapore? - Nope. Order from Zappiti own website is the best imo. In fact none of their products sold locally in Singapore. There is no local distributor AFAIK but they do ship to Singapore. That’s how I got mine.

Hi guys, I am looking for a long fiber HDMI (12 to 15m) to connect my zappiti to ceiling mounted projector. I heard there are many handshake issues with Zapitti, so can I check whether anyone has tried the Ruipro fiber HDMI with zapitti? seems quite cheap on amazon compared to others like Fibbr. Thanks!

I used 10m Ruipro fiber optic HDMI from AVR to LG C7 Oled without any issue.

Previously, tried using monoprice certified but stil have CEC audio drop out.

For Amazon, you can return the cable if it does not work.

Thanks bro, the concern is the very finicky zappiti. And it's going to be laid in the ceiling to projector so will be PITA to change if it doesnt work well

I would like to ask is anyone using Zappiti media player to perform torrents download?

I used Popcorn Hour and thinking to replace it with Zappiti.

Thanks.

I use the Zappiti 4K HDR Pro and while it is a great unit (having used Plex/Infuse/Emby/Apple TV 4K/Nvidia Shield extensively), my ongoing problem is the HDMI handshake specifically with the audio track. Video syncs quickly, but the audio has a few attempts before it locks on. It's fine for movies, but if you have many short demo clips, the video is already 10-15 seconds before the audio syncs. A very annoying problem I've not yet been able to solve unfortunately.
