I've always been sceptical about accessories like footers and cable lifters and why some can be so costly. Of course we all know expensive can be quite subjective depending on the results and improvements it brings and how much we can afford.

Chanced upon Giraffe's cable lifters this afternoon and it was a real ear opener that made me rethink how these "accessories" of HiFi can make such a great difference to sound.

The lifters were used on the speaker cables and there was actually improvements on the midtones which was a lot clearer. Bass extensions went lower, sounded less boomy. Could hear the bass notes better. There was also improvement on transparency. Separation is better, and overall quieter!

I haven't really got the chance to compare these against other brands of lifters, but honestly at this price point of $90 each I think it's an accessory really worth considering. Didn't really burn a hole in my pocket yet brought tremendous upgrade to overall sound. As good as upgrading a part of my HiFi system.

Quality and material of this footer is pretty good.  titanium top, aluminium support with ceramic ball bearings in between.

I don't really find much posting about this cable lifter, but I think it's really worth giving it a try, if you're like me, sceptical. Let your ears be the judge [emoji4]

Congrats on your "discovery" of GS footers! Yours are of a newer version then mine. Have you tried it under power cords and interconnects? It just keeps getting better!

Yes! Tried on power cords and interconnects that were touching the ground. Results were good!

Yes I did. The batch from the latest MO is really good stuff. Comes with a nice metal casing.

Like the new design where the height can adjusted from the bottom. Very easy adjustment and no more ugly slips of paper underneath to raise height.

Not sure how it work, and very surprised that it actually work without electronic and make the sound better. To me it's very well worth the money compare to high end power cord. I just get the new full titanium height adjustable footer for my power amp.

Not so sure about that @noah

Chances are the cables will be resting on something else if not the floor.

If you are trying to dangle the cables then I suggest not. May end up causing stress to the ends of the cables and damaging them.

Why not ask Giraffe for a home trial?

Like I said, let your ears be the judge.

My opinion is before trying different types of cable lifters, be sure to try out the equipment footers.

Everyone knows bro Long Neck has the most number of footers and cable lifters.

I had a strange experience with GS lifter, early version, while using them under long speaker run. The details and imaging improved noticeably, but there was a shift in tonality towards the bright side. After I put folded slips of paper between the U-channel and the speaker cable so that there was no direct contact between the insulation and metal, tonality went back to normal.

I confess that I too use lifters but of nonferrous material...

It does keep the wires neatly routed and prevent dust piling up over time. Sound wise IMHO there are many other areas worth more attention and I would put my $$$ in speakers, electronics, PC/IC, power supply, etc...this would be one of very last.

For the fun of it, I saw this  ;D

that is so silly...  ;D

It is...but I am also curious if a blind A/B can tell the difference.

If you have trained your hearing, of course , you can.

Haha...I may or may not hear any difference but I doubt it has anything to do with training. My point is about diminishing returns...anyway enjoy!

In fact, you just might be the smartest among the lot in this thread ;D

Those touting the titanium lifters don't seem to have a clue that it's a paramagnetic material, i.e. it forms internal magnetic fields induced from nearby applied magnetic fields such as current carrying cables - pretty silly to be using it as a cable lifter, especially so much of it touching the cable some more!!

Demonstrates the power of pseudo-science salesmen :)

In my experience,  I'll notice any small change,  liking or not is second,  to my system.  Be it a moving a painting on the wall. It's lot more easy,  when the system is able to reproduce in high fidelity and one's hearing is trained.

Then there is return of investment. If one likes the change and it's priced within one's affordability, then it's worth investing else even if it were free and one doesn't like the change , there nothing.

So , be a improvement or affordable , it's the owner of the system to judge, not us.

It's just my view,  and perhaps you have yours. It's not really matter as long as I enjoy the sound my system reproduce,  so do you.

That's an interesting find. Apart from tonality shift, were there any other significant change after you added the slips of paper?
