David Cheah Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Hi Bros, lately being quite interested in switching to Tube amplifications but a little hesitant to the heat factor (also means power consumptions) and how different will I feel switching from a Class D 500 watts per ch to tube. Can those bros with tube amps kindly share your experiences. Thanks in advance
Doggie Howser Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Or try a tube preamp to those Class D power amps. While you may not need a 500W Tube amp to be comparable to the Class D 500W you will still need a decent amount of grunt if your speakers are hard to drive. If you like punchy sound of a solid state and need high current for your speakers, I’m always partial to PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium with KT120. 80W/channel but doesn’t sound underpowered. Or 160W in mono configurations Not cheap but they sound the business.
