ronildoq Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 Looking good. I guess after this major overhaul, you won’t be selling your apartment anytime soon eh? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Definitely not for the next 8 years, kids primary school is just 5mins walking distance... Very happy with the noise floor now... much lower , the “feel” every morning when I walk to the hall is so different now... My hall is more silent than the bedroom... the other way round Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ronildoq Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 We try to eliminate anything that contributes to noise floor... So you can see from the design of the MP50 lyngdorf, it doesn’t have any built in cooling fan, these fans can be noisy, strict NO NO from lyngdorf.... “Quote: your room needs to silent” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Once u able to achieve reasonable silent listening environment without all the reverberations (which I experienced during my visit to your place a few months back)...you do not need to turn up your volume to get that oomph. It saves electricity as well. But NOT too dead “silent” else it kills the overall dynamics. Exciting time ahead for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
petetherock Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Very impressive bro, I hope I can visit and learn more about these diffusers. Cheers
ronildoq Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 Yes very excited, lots to look forward to come 2019! Yes Pete, these SMT wings are the real deal, I’ll PM you when ready, u can pop by. How is your reno? Has it completed ? Below are Comments and excerpts from other users, using only 2 SMT wings... “I haven’t gone through for various range of music genre,But for jazz and live music concert, It sounds very good, And i heard micro details as well, For example, audience talks or those background stage noise that quite micro that i didnt notice before,And my bass also at somepoint i heard less reverberated, something like use psi,But not that much, I turned on the psi, it’s better. Another users comments “Yeah well worth for the money. Test the dts-cd that got voices behind mlp the voices are more focused n clean, now the surround back sounds more like the front spks with bigger soundstage! Can't believe it's real. For front spks test 2ch music now, clarity further improve sound cleaner also, will do some more testing after dinner. , True, very effective can heard the improvement straight away. Front spks too far from front wall maybe on the side first reflex point.Improvement on clarity make the vocal sound more clean.” Very very good this SMT , must hear it yourself to believe
whitesox Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Very impressive bro, I hope I can visit and learn more about these diffusers. Cheers I register my name first before others ;D
Guest BadEnglish Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 So which is more valuable in term of dollar spent vs gain A Power conditioner Or Wings Or they complement each others.
ronildoq Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 So which is more valuable in term of dollar spent vs gain A Power conditioner Or Wings Or they complement each others. Wings take the lead!! Power Conditioner Plixir Elite 3000 is no slouch, but definitely the SMT Wings for me. Best to have both, which im currently using, very happy indeed, cant ask for more.....

ronildoq Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 I’ll guess Wings... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You are absolutely right, the Wings offers something that Electronics can never produce... Its just priceless and superb! Im hearing details and separation so crystal clear that ive never heard before. Even the raindrops hitting the helmet, hitting the rock, all seperate types of sound could be heard. That sort of minor minor details. I have the Tannoy ST200 Super Tweeters sitting in front of the 2 wings, the airiness........... Unbelievable.... my only problem now is that suddenly the 65' TV feels way too small for the sound im experiencing.... sigh....
ronildoq Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 Make sure you are not asking more else your bed room noise floor will hit the roof ;D lol, bedroom noise floor cannot be controlled.... at least 70-75db, sometimes will resonate to 85db! lol
ronildoq Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 Next continued to seal off the room doors with batwings and this mini rubber gel thingy that blocks out noise at the bottom of the doors, had it in and out of the room... Door slightly tighter to open close, make sure not too tight, double sided material that blocks out all the little holes... so much improvement now on Noise Floor.... Getting to the levels I want now... much much lower noise floor now... Cost usd8/piece from amazon, simple to use and effective , brought down the noise floor a great deal, prevents insects from coming in, improves air conditioner air flow from leaking, Delighted indeed.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk i got this simple to use Sound Proof Door Strip Door, USD8.99 2" Width X 39" Length (Brown) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GRN1ZZZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Began Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 lol, bedroom noise floor cannot be controlled.... at least 70-75db, sometimes will resonate to 85db! lol It can be reduce with different types diffuser and absorber. Channel or LV. Some bedroom Gucci also ok

petetherock Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Bro How did you apply your rock wool to avoid false ceiling vibrations? Mine’s a work in progress.. maybe when it’s closer to the TOP I can invite you over too. Cheers
ronildoq Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Bro How did you apply your rock wool to avoid false ceiling vibrations? Mine’s a work in progress.. maybe when it’s closer to the TOP I can invite you over too. Cheers Morning Pete, Happy New Year 2019 to you ! I used the grid system like seen on pics, just like how some of the offices do. But you gotta inform your contractor to firmly anchor it, so the grid itself doesn’t rattle playing heavy bass. The contractor I’ve used is very experienced , he installs for acoustics companies, his price is also very good and reasonable, much cheaper than many. When you put up the rockwool, it’s important to first identify the air flow resistivity of the rockwool you have purchased. Most often, people get confused with looking at the density of the rockwool instead. The lower the air flow resistivity value, the more effective it is. What u want is effectiveness in acoustic properties by using the right material rockwool. Check with the seller the air flow resistivity of the rockwool material Next, you wanna leave an air GAP between the rockwool and the ceiling. This helps with trapping excessive bass energy and helps improve decay times. Between the rockwool and ceiling, I have an air GAP of 4-8cm, depending on how the rockwool is being stuffed into the ceiling. After mounting the Atmos speakers and cables, stuff all corners of speakers with the rockwool. This will help eliminate speaker boundary interference on ceiling Finally, on the surface of the grid, u can try some diffusing panels, to reflect the mids and highs, this method will Ensure the room doesn’t sound too dead with all the rockwool stuffed inside. Why on the surface, because mid and higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths and the whole point of it is to scatter the frequencies over space and time. So again, important is to use the right diffusors, a temporal diffusor that scatters frequency over time. In this instance, I picked the BAD panels to do the job That’s the template.... In short 1) pick the right rockwool material looking at air flow resistivity values 2) leave air GAP between rockwool and ceiling to trap excess bass energy 3) use diffusion on surface to scatter mids and highs without making room sound dead 4) rockwool to fill up GAP of speakers to avoid SBIR issues on ceiling 5) Ensure mounting is effective and tight to avoid rattling. drill extra holes to firmly anchor it 6) try to identify anything that contributes to noise, eliminate it where possible Enjoy !! ronildoq Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Some info on the SMT Wings, this stuff works in the nearfield as well, this one was posted to you tube [embed=425,349] [/embed] Published on Oct 14, 2018 It is said that the wing diffusors are designed for broadband diffusion in the near field and take benefit of the early reflections. Described in this pdf: www.hakode.se/wing/Wing-concept.pdf As normally, microphone and listening distance for various broadband Schröder diffusors is 2-3 meters to avoid lobing and combfilter effects. We wanted to try how small "wing diffuser bubble" we could create without experience those negative proximity effects. We managed to place the microphones as close to the wing panels as 15-20cm with retained absence of the negative effects. A surprising and cool thing that got stuck on tape was that the placement of the soundsource in the room/the soundstage, was much more precise with the wing diffusors compared to the more unclear soundstage that the dry room revealed. As mentioned in the pdf, it seems that lack of early reflections make a sound much more difficult to perceive, as they say, in a landscape covered in snow, rather then how everything becomes much more clear and easy to hear and understand, with the dense early reflections present. In summary, the wing diffusers seem to be an alternative to obtain a high resolution and clarity in very small spaces.
ronildoq Posted January 7, 2019 Author Posted January 7, 2019 Next up ... Very high quality Finnish Birch Plywood made BAD panels... Being from Europe, formedylhyde emissions are safe for kids... This will be ready come weekend, I hope I have the time to mount it, 16 pieces in total. haven’t really measured but definitely 2 pieces of it will sit at 50 degrees above centre channel. Th rest will flank the Atmos in ceiling speakers in a 595x595 grid system. Centre will be further flanked by SMTs... first reflection point on ceiling by BAD panels, floor will be carpet for absorption Now itself the room feel is so different... taking it up to the next level with lyngdorf soon... Close up view One of it sitting on the seatons smt behind Still thinking of combination to use... That’s it for acoustics and lowering of noise floor, will share final pics once mounted on ceiling , it sits in front of the echophon A fiberglass backing panels Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
