All done, noise floor lowered and diffusion and absorption all done. Next week... Lyngdorf in the house ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ronildoq Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Last night I finally had some “me” time, quickly powered on the system and played a few of my familiar sound tracks.....Prometheus cave scene. I’ve been playing these same clips hundreds of times and I’m Super familiar with every detail, it’s in the back of my head Last night at absolute silence in the room, I hear so many things not heard before. The quality is unbelievably amazing Not only the clarity, the midbass is so very clean and it had the texture and speed due to the improved decay times. No settings changed but yet I can feel the bass Attack has picked up. I can already feel the midbass moving left right when the drones were moving in circular fashion, this was not there before. I can now hear clearly the words uttered on the radio walkie talkie, previously can’t really hear what they were mumbling. Then comes the moving effects of the wind storm, blowing from left and extends to the far right. These were all not there before. And even raindrops hitting on the helmets, precision sound specific drops hitting on the helmet on specific areas could be distinguished between the rain coming from the TOP and hitting the ground, rain hitting the body and rain hitting the ground. So much clarity and separation of details, the imaging is superb. none of the demo rooms I visited had this quality, even the high end HK studio with storm didn’t have this type of details I’m hearing. It’s like suddenly, “eh that’s new”... and then listen again... “Wah got such effect?” , it just presents itself, even when they were removing the helmets, click, u get a very soft touch of bass pop, mirroring what u see on screen. I went to bed with the sound firmly imprinted on my mind and it’s such a delight to listen I’m begging for more... This was all still on the existing ddrc88a with Dirac live, I haven’t even unboxed the Lyngdorf MP-50. I needed to hear the before and after to fairly evaluate the Mp-50. At this moment, I’m having doubts if the Lyngdorf will bring a significant benefit to the set up, but I’m sure Dolby Atmos clips will be in a different league with the MP-50. The above sound track is a dts-hd Ma 7.1 soundtrack , and the ddrc88a with Oppo 205 is just 7.1 playback. Not bragging but this SMT pairing with BAD panels on the ceiling and dihedral bass traps are the real deal here, tight and much more controlled . I’m very very happy with my living room now, exactly what I’m looking for. 2019 goal achieved . Particularly the SMT, they work not only in mid high frequencies but also at the bass layers, 200hz, and can be placed nearfield, absolute WORLD CLASS! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Especially the MDF version. The best diffusor for me, totally No Horse Run ! Tips:/ if using a pair, the first and foremost most critical and effective place is to place this 60cm from ground, exactly at the back of MLP. This is the most significant placement for it to shine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest BadEnglish Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Don't let mixing engineers from Media Corp hear that. End up they will do sound mix in your room. The cheaper and the better , they cried! Enjoy!

The acoustics really bring something different to the listening experience, especially the SMT Wings Again and again ill repeat, Highly Recommended this SMT wings for anyone who is able to have acoustics panels in their room
ronildoq Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 The above is the room noise floor now, after the acoustics work, nice levels averaging 30db in the hall, that peak at 35hz is the sound of the fan in the room Above 1khz, it’s all down below 10db, that shows the equipment connected all has very Low noise, great job from the Plixir Elite BAC 3000! Hardly any electrical noise in the chain... 2019 achievement unlocked ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Still got many things, this weekend will continue to listen and enjoy the system first for the CNY period before the second tweak again... I suppose the tweak will last for another 1-2 months then will know exactly what is good and bad and how else to improve further , for the hall acoustics, that’s done !! ronildoq Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 Wow, amazing! You’ve achieved <20dB over a wide range, covering the ears most sensitive frequencies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes, I go to every single detail wherever there is noise to eliminate it, I’ve missed out a few things actually. after my visit to HK studio, I realised the noise floor or ambient noise in the room contributes significantly to the listening experience, I’ve figured if I can emulate 70% of what’s in that studio room, the journey is already complete, especially the system is in the living room, not a dedicated room... So answer is yes, it’s possible to have it in living hall, need effort and gotta spend a fair bit due to area of coverage. But the slightly larger size 8x6m hall is very different from a room set up Now I can’t just say, oh my room is quiet, then question arise is how quiet is quiet? So the measurements now confirms my listening experience, in the hall... It’s also partly due to the power conditioner I’m using, the plixir elite BAC3000, it’s TOP notch stuff as well, u can see there is no electrical noise in the chain... Still hearing the tick tock tick tock clock in the morning... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ralfale Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Brilliant stuff ! Waiting for your gathering invite after CNY :)

Are u enjoying it ? What quality did it bring to your set up ? Here is one video I saw recently [embed=425,349] [/embed]

ronildoq Posted February 2, 2019 Author Posted February 2, 2019 See this, veritune smt tuning. [embed=425,349] [/embed] "Veritune" Helmholtz resonators- Adjustable helmholtz resonators allow for specific targeting of modal problems from 16-100 Hz. Its effective! Placed at locations below the SMT wings Awesome stuff this SMT
ronildoq Posted February 2, 2019 Author Posted February 2, 2019 Here is another way of measuring the noise floor levels if you have an iphone , download this free app called decibel x A quick way to measure, u can look at the peak and min noise floor... above is the noise floor in a badminton hall taken just now... I’ll post shortly on using the REW method ... hope that helps.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boxerfan88 Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Thank you. I notice when the "Adjust RTA Levels" is checked -- the measurement is pretty close to what I see on the iPhone DecibelX app. I think the "Adjust RTA Levels" need to be checked for noise floor measurement. What do you think?

I notice when the "Adjust RTA Levels" is checked -- the measurement is pretty close to what I see on the iPhone DecibelX app. I think the "Adjust RTA Levels" need to be checked for noise floor measurement. What do you think? Use this option when measuring the subs on the fly, using a pink periodic test tone from rew signal generator, then u can choose this option. When everything is silent, look at the mic levels A weighting Fast... it will display the average noise floor levels in the room
