rayleh Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Nowadays, streaming services like ATV or Netflix is actually quite close to the quality from DISC. I reckon the gap will be even narrower in the near future.

DizzyD1624705734 Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 In terms of streaming if we use the apps on the TV (Netflix), I don't think we can get Atmos unless you have eARC on the TV. Then you need to have an external media player e.g. nvidia shield, ATV to have full HD audio. Hence that is why some might want to play physical UHD disc on UHD player.
Sach Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Hi all I have the X800M2 and it's a brilliant device. Sound quality is superb and same goes for the pic quality. User interface is rudimentary and it came with Netflix and YouTube, both in 4k loaded. I cannot load Amazon Prime Video as Sony won't allow me to register on Sony Essentials if outside US. Power supply is 120v, but it runs at 15w so a cheap converter works well. Will need to reset the device once running though VPN to get the benefit of 4K streams from the other providers and use Netflix Atmos.

US and did not have to use converter
bigbird Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Anybody bought this X800m2 from Amazon? I would like to ask if the voltage is universal that can be used in SG 230v.
2centsworth Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 I got it from Amazon with a small step down transformer just to be sure. Total cost is less than sgd400.
bigbird Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 I owned the earlier x800 mk 1 from Amazon and the voltage is universal. But not sure about this mk 2.
cstanxpl Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 https://www.avsforum.com/forum/149-blu-ray-players/3067046-official-sony-ubp-x800m2-owners-thread-no-price-talk-19.html Post #545 provided 2 links that shows the power PCB of the X800 and X800M2. The power PCB looks to be similar. But I noticed the X800M2 has 1 capacitor less on the power PCB.
boysact Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Why not buy it from amazon uk and there would not have voltage issue Otherwise can consider X700 model available in SG
YANG Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Yup. Since u're buying a device just to play no region blocking UHD media, buy from UK/Germany is the easiest no brainer option to go! https://www.tps.uk.com/?tab_name=SONY&tab_id=54&choice_name=Blu-ray&choice_id=209&product_group_id=254&product_name=Sony_UBP-X800M2_MULTIREGION_4K_Ultra_HD_Blu-ray_Player&product_id=4872&choice_type=1 ......of course, when it comes to saving a few tens of dollars, European price is undeniably less competitive than the yanks.
bigbird Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Yesterday my Sony X800M2 arrived from US. At the back the label showed 120v. I took the risk and plug into 230v outlet and it is working as per normal.

wizardofoz Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 most SMPS are able to do 90-240v but some will not...you need to check the main cap in the powersupply and see if its rated 200V or 400V then you might know how long before it will pop. 200V and it will pop sooner or later ???
