Guest AndrewC Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 [embed=625,349] [/embed] Likely to make people forget Heath Ledger's version?
desray Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Easily one of the best trailers so far...Looking forward to this new take on the Joker DC character.
simplybochup Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I am really hype up about this! My favourite Dc villain. However i don't think we will be comparing with Ledger. Ledger is already legendary in his joker portrayal.. but i am sure this by Joaquin Phoenix will be up there with Ledger's performance
Guest AndrewC Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Some possible spoilers, so watch with caution... :) [embed=625,349] [/embed]
Guest AndrewC Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Staggering Oscar-worthy performance… But ultimately quite unsatisfying :-\… It’s almost all focused around mental health… I miss the sinister criminal mastermind from the comics (albeit, he could turn into one over the next decade while Batman emerges, so maybe too soon to call?) Ps: Can’t believe they picked a Gary Glitter’s track!!! Classic scene though!!! ;D [embed=425,349] [/embed][embed=425,349] [/embed][embed=425,349] [/embed]
pschia Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I found this movie quite depressing. People who is suffering from depression should not watch this movie lest it triggers a major psychotic breakdown in them.
andylovesaudio Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 For sure those with audiophillia nervosa or even worse the dreaded chiaminitis ... definitely shouldn’t watch. Gone case for sure. :o
desray Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 This is easily the best movie of the year imo! Joaquin Phoenix is brilliant in this scintillating take on the iconic DC comic villain...FINALLY something different! Yes, no doubt that it is a very depressing movie to watch but the direction that Todd Philips was taking and Joaquin's brilliant acting makes this movie a must-watch! But having say that, I can't bring myself to watch it too often (I will be getting the bluray when it hit the store) as it is a very hard movie to watch but we can admire the brilliant acting and great story telling. My rating for this movie is easily a 4.5/5 stars! ;D
droid1624705930 Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Highly recommended , another Oscar contender for Best Actor
westendboy Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 https://reelthoughtsfromageek.wordpress.com/2019/10/08/joker-2019/
desray Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 https://reelthoughtsfromageek.wordpress.com/2019/10/08/joker-2019/ Only 3.5/5 stars from you? Interesting...
canoli Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 movie’s good ... but ultimately no pay-off .... taken as a homage of sorts to Taxi Driver and viewed as an expansion of Todd Phillips range as a director works better than viewing it as a DC/super-hero/Batman-related film even if it’s termed as a ‘standalone’ flick. And yes Joaquin is good but personally the late Heath Ledger nails it as the Joker character. Watching the movie; i’d wished instead of DeNiro they should have cast .... Russell Crowe .... they would have provided a meta moment
ronildoq Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Highly recommended , another Oscar contender for Best Actor The same thing my friends told me, They said it’s a must watch movie, gotta check it out

YANG Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 so... Jack Nicholson's Joker will become a real “Joke” when the later years younger actors play the role betta...
lonewold_sg Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 so... Jack Nicholson's Joker will become a real “Joke” when the later years younger actors play the role betta... IMHO he was and has always been a joke in the Burton's Batman. (As was others like Tommy, Jim, Arnold and Uma but I digress) I never understand why he was so praised for his performance. His 'Joker' was a clown trying to be a menacing psychopath. Contrast that to Heath's portrayal of a menacing psychopath and killer trying to disarm others by pretending to be a clown. I have not watched this yet so can't comment on Joaquin Phoenix's performance but considering the buzz, it's probably not far off.

sje4182 Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Only 3.5/5 stars from you? Interesting... Watched yesterday. Didn't do much for me either, i guess 3.5/5 is appropriate. Got a few questions but i better put it as spoiler Some questions: 1. the age gap between bruce/batman and joker is so huge? Bruce looked like he was pre-teen vs 40+ joker? so age gap is almost 30 years? 2. so in the end, after he was rescued by the other protestors and he stood triumphant on the police car, he was still caught and send to prison/asylum? Seems like a huge story gap. joker shouldn't be so easily caught 3. my partner thinks that fleck's entire intention was to get himself into the asylum after he asked the asylum's guard what kind of people gets sent here....do u think so?

YANG Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 hmmm... this “episode” seem like a prequel of character development.

desray Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Actually Todd Philips the Director never intended this Joker movie to be part of the DCEU as such the age gap between Bruce and Joker is moot in this adaptation. See this movie from a different perspective - throw out the Suicide Squad and any semblance of Justice League movies...look at the birth and character evolvement of Arthur Fleck...whether or not he IS the Joker we get to know or an influencer where the "real" Joker will emulate...to me, this is a standalone movie which we should watch it on its own merits. Granted it can be a rather divisive movie for some...but I'm leaned towards the positive side.

I thought that scene of the clown gunning down Bruce's parents looked VERY similar to one in Batman Begins (other than the clown-shooter), as in the surroundings and setting...
