desray Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Haven't launched in Singapore yet (at the time of this thread)...It will cost around $10/mth - much cheaper than Apple TV + and definitely cheaper than streaming giant, Netflix. But we also know that Disney bought over 20th Century Fox and so all the movies under the latter's vault will automatically becomes Disney property from here on. With the Disney Plus channel rolled out and all Disney related movies/series pulled out from Netflix, it is plausible to see a drop in subscription fees by Netflix to match Disney and Apple TV +... I believe I've read somewhere that Disney Plus will launch its maiden service in Asia Pacific starting from end of this year to 1st qtr of next year. Question is, will you ditch Netflix when Disney Plus hits Singapore? ??? ??? ???
dXter Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Will assess when the time comes. Can always trial first.
Guest Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Instead of dropping, my Netflix subscription here in Australia just went up to AU$19.99. Definitely not going to spend too much on streaming services, so I'll have to think long and hard which ones to get.

In Singapore, Netflix subscription is much cheaper compared to the States and Australia. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Corona11 Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Looks like not strong in Horror genre. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
chaozhoi Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Likely not. Not a fan to watch major blockbusters via streaming due to sound and PQ quality. Netflix offers a very large variety of dramas and documentaries which I dun mind watching via streaming platform. Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk

Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk Same argument as you when it comes to streaming a feature-length movie...since we ALL KNOW that it is not possible to get good lossless sound quality via streaming even though the PQ may reach a very respectable level (with HEVC and better compression down the road). Netflix seems to have more original content churned out compared to Applet TV + for now...As for Disney Plus, it seems like a curator of movies and animations with a few Disney-ran series/franchise.

tsammyc Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 I'm signed up for Disney+ on a Firestick 4K, using the StrongVPN app. Works great. HDR video quality and sound are excellent on my PJ
tsammyc Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Ever since I got my HD Fury Vertex2, my Firestick 4K reports Dolby Vision on a lot of Disney+ newer titles. The entire Avengers series is in Dolby Vision, so I've been rewatching since the UHD Blu Ray is only HDR 10.

Pismo Mac Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 I did use one OK, I guess there’s no other way around it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
htfreak Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 Been on Disney+ since day 1. Initially had Mandalorian to sustain interest but following the end of the season run, there's been not much interesting content unless you want to feel nostalgic and watch oldie animations. Planning to suspend my account until Mandalorian resumes or the Marvel serials start showing.
tsammyc Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I don't watch Disney+ as much as Netflix, but there is good content depending on taste. I've watch some of the National Geographic content, which was good, most recently the search for Amelia Erhart. I watched the final season of Clone Wars. That was pretty good. There are a total of 7 seasons. Am waiting for a new season of Rebels. A few others I've yet to watch are Frozen II, Lion King, Aladdin and Maleficent II. There are many well rated movies that were of marginal interest because of content, but I find that I am watching them now in glorious Dolby Vision and marveling at the picture quality. As well as some of those I watched at 1080p, now in Dolby Vision. Watched Fantastic Four the other day in DV. Superb quality too.
Doggie Howser Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I agree. For what I paid $80/year Disney Plus is a no brainer. I got to watch the original Star Wars trilogy in UHD Vision and Atmos before the discs were released. Even though I’ve bought them on discs recently because of an offer. There’s also a catalogue of Fox movies on its way. I also have Prime but that was because of Grand Tour. I just got Netflix again but once I’m caught up I’ll probably cancel.
desray Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 Disney's Mulan will be heading to its in-house streaming platform next month. For us, we can catch it in our theatres since Singapore does not have Disney Plus yet. https://www.theverge.com/2020/8/4/21354593/mulan-release-date-disney-earnings-warner-bros-tenet-theaters
desray Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 $30 US to stream? No thanks Yeah agreed...its way too ex. I'm not going to pay for streaming one movie which is equivalent or less than a physical disc when it comes out. This is a black swan event for the movie/cinema industry right now. All are navigating carefully to "test water" and see the reception. If not worth it, probably they will stop. Studio needs to make money and they need to payback the bank for the money they borrowed to shot the movie. The longer they wait...the less enthusiasm...by the time the covid-19 pandemic is over, it will probably be next year.
keyse1 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Anybody watching this Seriously good Two main stars are mainly pretty faces but the villains and minor characters are excellent 1
Peterbean Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 My young adult kids like it; so far I’ve only spotted one movie of interest and it’s on the other bundled network
