Ars Paart Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Wow, this thread hasn't really taken off. The Old Man on Disney+ is well worth a look. Jeff Bridges reprises his Rooster Cockburn effort (ok not really) from True Grit but as an ex-CIA operative on the run. It's paced really nicely, some (IMO overly long) mono- and dialogues interspersed with sporadic graphic violence. John Lithgow is excellent as well. 5
Demondes Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I am really enjoying Andor on Disney plus. it’s the latest Star Wars spin off and has the darkest vibe of all the recent series. It takes its cues from the Rogue One movie, and is set 5 years prior to rogue one. 2

Same here I like how Cassian shoots people even rebels without warning and regard, I'm glad they kept that trait of his character from Rogue One

Not having seen Rogue one I was surprised at the darkness, notably the shooting people dead biz. Great to see his mum played by the spy boss from Killing Eve

Demondes Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Andor update Oh Geez episode 8 Narkina 5 is very dark. The prison planet is quite an experience, and the political intrigue on Coruscant is also interesting (normally boring in these shows). It really highlights the empire as a giant uncaring bureaucracy, the classic evil of the Emperor is only hinted at.

Next' Andor - 'But I'm just a tourist' LOL The political establishment and its dissenters on Coruscant is a great arc to the show and the Empire is just realising a real threat, although it has been building over episodes The Tie Fighter chase Ep 6 The Eye, 10/10 Edited October 27, 2022 by crankit

Guest crankit Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Going to stick my neck and say that Andor is a cut above The Mandalorian, the writing and acting is simply that good. Ep 10 was epic

Ep 10 was epic Indeed, this show has been one heck of a slow burn, every episode from around ep 7, just gets better and better. The only reason I kept watching initially was it is Star Wars and Rogue One was excellent. The other minor factor initially was knowing the characters ultimate fate and seeing the actor that plays him is clearly older now than he was in rogue one, but that factor has completely dissipated. What about the piloting scene in yesterdays ep (whoah, way to announce yourself to the empire). 1

cazzesman Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Shinking - has started, for fans of Ted Lasso style. This is an extremely funny interview with Brett. His story about meeting with HF is classic. Regards Cazzesman
NoCoder Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Was recommended to watch Fleishman Is in Trouble, and I really enjoyed it. It was released last year and slipped under the radar, but it's a very good quality series.
