Love the fight scenes.

Watch it at Shaw.

Great SQ and PQ.

When the "Karate" guy lost, rely felt like standing up wild applause for IP man :)

Enjoy it guys :)

I find IPman too much reliance on nationalistic melodrama always Chinese against angmos

Prefer him to fight with fellow kungfu opponents

The real exciting fight will be between IP Man with his fellow kungfu opponents :)

Climax for me will be Taichi vs Wing Chun

Somehow sad thing is that mostly are not his level.....

This is the final chapter for Ip Man...I think the story line is fine and befitting a good closure for the whole series. However, I find the fight scenes a little weaker (guess Ip Man getting older) compared to the previous 3 instalments.

I remember in one or the ipman series he fought with sammo hung on a revolving dinner table. Quite nice!

This is how you make the last movie of a franchise. Not that Rise of Skywalker bullsh1t. Ip Man 4 can be cloying but it knows when to rein that back in with some superbly choreographed fight scenes. Damn rousing and I can’t believe I tear up in a kungfu movie.

No tearing for me but agreed with you that it is a good ending for the franchise. In one of the junket interviews, Donny Yen revealed that Ip Man 4 will be his “last” martial art flick. But he will still do action though.

just watched it, i echo your sentiments. Exact same feeling. didn't quite like the storyline on this one. too much of a chinese vs angmoh stuff.

I like the first one best, thats my fav, the one on Japanese occupation

But sound mastering is very good, done at MBS studio HK. I love how the mastering is done, so much improvement over the previous 3 installments. very nice micro details especially in china town, good vocals too. Also confirmed that Shaw Punggol is the best so far, the bass is tight, fast and much more pleasing compared to the rest of the cinemas in singapore. Best watch it at Shaw Punggol for these type of movies

7/10 for me, mainly because of Donnie Yen + sound mastering

Definitely need to load in Bass EQ for this one when i get the Bluray, worth getting the bluray.

Watched it the other night. Spoilers follow. Be warned.

I thought I might have missed an installment but going over the synopsis of the earlier 3, it looks like I had watched all of them. I just wasn’t aware there were so many other Ip Man movies different from this franchise. Those I missed.

I didn’t think it was a better movie than Rise of Skywalker. Skywalker is flawed but it felt more coherent as a story.

Ip Man felt like it was very contrived circumstances to create a conflict. Like it was one of Bruce Lee’s student who was an INS agent and the girl who tried to bully the Chinese girl was the daughter of said INS agent’s boss.

And that stench of pro Chinese against all Westerners vibe from the Chinese backers was just too overpowering, I couldn’t get myself to rally behind the heroes for the most part. The villains were all caricatures and one dimensional stereotypes. I’m all for a realistic portrayal of racial discrimination but this was beyond preachy.

The only one I could get behind was ip Man. But maybe that’s all that was needed.
