pschia Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Big problem now for those companies that chose to hire cheap FTs over local born Singaporeans. All their PRC FTs are stuck back in China. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/about-30-000-chinese-work-pass-holders-yet-to-return-from-china-12383500?cid=FBcna
Chowbotak Posted February 2, 2020 Author Posted February 2, 2020 If they come back they'll have to take leave of absence of two weeks. Will there be any arrangements to ensure that they'll not stray outside their house? What if they take a train or bus? What if they have their meals at a food court? Go ntuc buy groceries?
jeromelang Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 There seems to be 2 kinds of virus going on. One that makes victims feverish & coughing, etc. Another that cause organ failure, victims suddenly fall down dead. Dun go out anymore. .

Maybe the first one is the cold flu or influenza as it is the flu season all around the world at the moment. And the second one is the Wuhan coronavirus.

jeromelang Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Singapore vs Taiwan This is how shameless PAP can be. Using the virus and taxpayers money to score political point for own party. Why is the Loser from PAP in Aljunied grc distributing the masks with taxpayer money and not the workers party who was voted in by Aljunied residents? why are they wasting time and money to print all these brochures?
qflyer Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 prcs are very selfish, stripping off essential stuffs from other countries. from baby formula to masks. our biz should stop selling to them.
andylovesaudio Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Not siding anyone or any one nationality or race ... but I really do think our own people are more than likely to do the same thing if shoved under similar circumstances. And yes ... Malaysians too and everyone else. Was at Paya Lebar post office. Saw many people sending out Care packages of med supplies and masks back home... I assume China. After some thought ... if I was in their situation and had the resources to get the supplies ... even in the midst of a country wide shortage ... 99 percent I would do the same thing. I can’t think of many people ... if anyone ... who wouldn’t do the same.

Hence, to some, selfishness, stupidity does not appear in their life dictionary one...
andylovesaudio Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 at the end of day, everyone is selfish, but some are just more selfish than the other. Civic consciousness plays a role here. I totally agree with you. Those people at the post office could be sending supplies to loved ones and friends who are in trouble back home. That’s actually an act of unselfishness. Anyway ... I am not making excuses for anyone. I just don’t see what they are doing as something really extraordinary.
jeromelang Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 When more than 160,000 masks are sent, they are totally not for any relatives and friends. The irony is that they all got stuck at the wuhan post office and the wuhan red cross. Very little get across to the medical workers in the front line. When 160k + 70k masks were taken out of circulation in Singapore the consequences will be very severe, especially with 30k tiongs coming back under unsupervised quarantine.
Chowbotak Posted February 3, 2020 Author Posted February 3, 2020 We shd start manufacturing masks, with I Love Taiwan printed on them

We cannot rule out that some of them are buying in bulk to sell at a profit back home
