dbchoong Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Netflix's Dolby Atmos shows - some sound really meh and some sounds very good. Recently, noticed a couple of Netflix shows with really good use of Atmos. - The Order - Warrior Nun It's great when the sound is awesome... makes the show a lot better, I feel.
Avonez Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 Hi, maybe this is off topic but is Netflix Atmos only available on 4k content? That is, it won't be available if you have a full HD TV despite having the premium subscription and Netflix streaming devices with known Netflix Atmos support? Netflix Customer Service couldn't give a satisfactory answer, unable to understand technical question. [After note] Tested with Windows 10 (with Dolby Access), Netflix Dolby Atmos is also available on non 4K content, ie playable on full HD TV with Atmos tracks.

desray Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) It seems like Netflix is going to piss more subscribers in their 4K screener tier. Not sure about you guys, but I am... https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1602743673 Edited October 16, 2020 by desray
Guest Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 We should be advancing with higher resolutions and less compression, not the other way around. Clearly bandwidth is just costing them too much.
rayleh Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Realised that the audio format also downloaded to a lossy format. Watching To the Lake and later episodes were in lossy audio format unlike earlier episodes.
desray Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 And yet they just increased the subscription rate a few months back...
rayleh Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 I have to admit their library of movies is better now and hope the downgrading of format is a temporary measure to mitigate the bandwidth issue.
bigbird Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 The new Netflix Chinese movie The Wandering Earth is one of the very few ones that I can hear the Atmos ceiling speakers clearly.

Jagdpanzer Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) I barely watch TV series. This one really got me hooked. The soundtrack is really mesmerising esp the piano and instrumentation. which blend so well with each scene. Edited March 15, 2021 by Jagdpanzer
rock123 Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 (edited) if u like super heros. do watch Jupiter's Legacy (Netflix) Season 1 Awesome SQ and PQ! https://www.avforums.com/reviews/jupiters-legacy-netflix-season-1-review.18699 quoted: Jupiter's Legacy Season 1 comes to the UK on Netflix, with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos too, framed in alternating widescreen aspect ratios - 1.78:1 for the flashback sequences, and 2.35:1 for present day - and looking pretty unsurprisingly impressive as per Netflix's standard presentations, notwithstanding the obvious caveat: things can get extremely dark. Indeed, three episodes in, and DV is clearly working overtime to allow the creators access to the deepest, darkest, inkiest blacks imaginable and whilst there's no signs of crush, there's really no sign of anything much else either, with only a few DV highlights popping in the oblivion (reds, blues, greens and energy signatures). Detail is excellent, and production value superb other than just how dark things can get (compare the nightclub scene to the equivalent in something like the John Wick films for an idea of just what level Netflix's Dolby Vision operates at).
