domho8 Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 Hi any bros care to share on their foldies. Noticed these days have to preorder your bike with full payment and get it 3 months later... Brompton wait list till June 2021..
Pismo Mac Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 There are Brompton clones if you are not too particular about branding. Pikes, 3sixty are some, similar fold, lower price.

Pismo Mac Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 I have a Dahon 26” foldable MTB, using it for my daily commute, which is about 8km single way. I have another Tern Link D8, 20” wheels, and recently got hold of a 3sixty with S-bar, 3 speed. Nothing beats the Brompton fold in terms of portability. I use BlueSG car sharing frequently and you can comfortably fit 1 Brompton foldable in the BlueSG car boot and I think you can probably fit 2 of these. I could barely squeeze in the Tern Link D8. The Dahon will definitely not fit without folding down the boot. I have not ridden the Reach GT. Reach was one of the first full size foldable bikes I’ve seen many years ago, but the folding is abit troublesome and not commuting friendly if you need to switch between modes of public transportation (e.g. cycle and MRT/bus). Anything that is more than 10kg needs to be wheelable, you won’t want to carry it for more than 5m. If you really need compact and portability, Brompton-fold is probably the only way to go. A compromise would be your 20” foldable like Tern, Dahon, Crius, Java. There is also a much wider range of accessories and spare parts for the Tern/Dahon range of 20” foldables, new or pre-owned, and probably cheaper too. Tern has come up with the BYB range, which has a more compact fold, but will still take up more space than a Brompton-fold, probably 1.5x a Brompton-fold. You’ll need to decide why you need the bike to be foldable, because you will pay a premium for the fold over a non-foldable bike, like for like. Hope this helps. 1

At least this was the case back in August. You can try to enquire with them. They are one of the brompton retailers in singapore and the owner is a really good guy.

proftournesol Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Old thread. My wife and I have Bike Fridays. We originally had fabulous Air Fridays, but both were replaced with Pocket Rocket Pro frames after a frame failure (corrosion). They are great bikes for cycle touring because they pack into a Samsonite F'lite case that converts into a towed trailer for luggage. All up, packed in the case, the bike, case and some gear weigh just under 20kg; we don't even tell the airlines that there's a bike inside; there's no trouble getting the cases into a taxi or train when it's packed away. They are comfortable on the road and devilishly fast when descending.
