Pioneer BDP450 temperamental in starting.

Dont know if it is at its death throes.

 

Remote is working as tested with hp camera,

 

Reponse is slow from the player. Switch on takes time, open and close very lazy and and has to be pushed or pulled and when closed shows NO DISC.

 

Wont play. Kept at it by Power OFF an On and OPEN and CLOSE but refuse to read.

 

After sveral tries takine 10 minutes does it read.

 

Can anything be done?

 

Playing The Pianist (dvd itself faulty) its by Focus Features/Canal and the PQ is EXCELLANT ! Would not mind trying my luck to get another.

My guess is the tray mechanism motor is dying. 

 

Two options: 

1. use until die, then go buy a replacement 

2. try to repair. if u comfortable to diy, maybe can try to add a drop of singer oil to the tray motor shaft and let the oil seep into motor body. *if u do this, it is at your own risk hor*

** tray motor is different from the motor spinning the disc

Bluray release have better skin tone and resolution.

My PHILIPS DVD951 was dead because of the mechanism fault... I still keep the body, trying to look for a Bluray player with 5.1 analogue audio out system for internal replacement modification. But yet to encounter one in CashConverter...

Rather risk and let it kaput than allow myself to be plagued by this continuos temperament.

 

Where can I see in Google image for this TRAY MOTOR of the bdp450 or any bdp showing the Tray motor and thr=e SPINNING motor ?

For sure the disc will be replaced.

Must add here that the disc PQ is stunning when played on my Panasonic 43” Plasma. Sad they discontinued Plasma for the colour is much more realistic than Oled expecially the face skin colour tone, very natural. Had I known would have got a 50inch then.
