I have a foolproof system, of supposed loaners, trade in's and camouflaged black to blend in! BTW, now in need of a dual linear PSU to run my Router at 12v 2A and QNAP NAS at 12v 7.5A. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? 7.5a at 12v is pretty excessive, Clive - are you sure it actually sucks that much current? I would suggest asking Clay whether one of his new, dual-supply PSes would do the trick. BTW, now in need of a dual linear PSU to run my Router at 12v 2A and QNAP NAS at 12v 7.5A. Any suggestions? Haha, yeah. I had a similar system until my wife just began disbelieving everything. On the upside the configuration is stable for my main system and linear power supplies are easy to sneak into the house. I find these 12V 3A units fine for anything requiring 12V up to 3A. I'm running 3x of these though if I could be bothered running one per bit of gear I'd actually have 6: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/50VA-HIFI-Ultra-low-Noise-Linear-Power-Supply-DC5V-7V-9V-12V-15V-18V-24V-Adapter-/353532956318?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0 This 12V 10A unit should power your NAS nicely: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hiend-Low-Noise-Linear-Power-Supply-200VA-R-core-tranformer-DC12V-10A-L13-16-/123597643177?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 I can't see the point breaking the bank on the networking side of things. These give an improvement and no doubt better LPS would give more improvement.... But how much more in relation to the price is the question? Edited August 7, 2021 by MattyW 1
evil c Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 @MattyW I would prefer to buy local if possible, but appreciate the recommendations!, 1

It is a QNAP model TS- X31+ series and l suspect it might need less current than that. I did have Clay in mind as one of the options.
agisthos Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 The higher spec of 7.5 amp is for maximum function i.e if you running apps on the NAS using the onboard CPU to the max, or actually using it as a HDMI out video player. But for just accessing media files from a NAS over the network, you can probably get away with 3-4amp LPS. I have used a 4a in the past with no issues on my 4-bay QNAP. Maybe we should load test this to find out. 1
JayM Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 I had a Keces DC-116 that became available after I got an Allo Shanti to power my rpi4 and the 502DAC HAT to replace the Keces. After a few days of the Keces lying idle, I decided to use its 12V output to power the Netgear Nighthawk R7000P router that we use at home. I replaced the wall wart with the Keces and did that at lunchtime and thought no more of it until tonight when I sat down to listen. Hmm, does Spotify sound better? Surely. not. So I listened some more and yes I think it is definitely better. So I started listening to my files on the network - and blow me down. My...mind...is...blown. BTW my fileserver and my music player are wired via ethernet to the router. Bog standard ethernet. In my system, using the Keces LPS on the router, has made a significant positive difference. Don't ask me why. I only have ears, and this is purely recounting my subjective impressions. Jay 2
Fitzroyalty Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Allo Shanti LPS powering the clean side of the Allo digione signature and my Chord Qutest DAC made a huge difference, particularly with the Qutest. I was ready to be sceptical, but yeah trying a wall wart vs battery vs LPSU with the Qutest absolutely converted me to the notion of 'clean power'. So can easily imagine those differences applying upstream.
