The Rock Puppy Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 I would like to put in a plug for any "Wallace and Grommit" adventure. Hear there's a new one on the way, so I'll be keeping an eye out for that. Also don't mind most of "Shaun The Sheep". Usually brings a smile if not outright chuckles. Must also mention, on SBS every New Year's Eve, "Dinner For One". Great stuff. 1 1

cazzesman Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 (edited) Is Jack O'Connell as Paddy Mayne currently the best character on TV? Season 2 of SAS: Rogue Heroes I do love Billy Bob Thornton in 'Landman', but Jack is killing it in SAS. Such a fun show. Writer Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) slays it again with the script. I am really looking forward to seeing the new show from Knight - "A thousand blows." https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21874900/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_t_3 Happy viewing. NoCoder Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Have caught up on Landman this week and Billy Bob Thornton's character is one of the best TV characters in recent memory. Absolutely love him! Really enjoying the show and looking forward to this weeks episode. Have a pile of shows to catch up on, but will be starting with Shrinking S2 this week. 1
cazzesman Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 Shrinking is so under-rated. Stellar cast and the writing is just 100% pure. Shout out to Jessica Williams, who steals every scene she is in. I'm not saying I would leave my wife for her...............................But I might help my wife pack BBT is brilliant, but Jack O'Connell has him beat...........................................this week. Happy viewing. Regards Cazzesman 1
cazzesman Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 American Primeval A new Peter Berg series. Very strong cast. A fair amount of violence and the realities of the situation in Utah in 1857 are very grim, to say the least. Very few heroic characters. You are either a survivor or a victim so be warned. Not for the kiddies. The opening episode is shot in an interesting fashion and it took me alittle getting use to. eps 2 really kicks in. So far so good. Happy Viewing. Regards Cazzesman 2

Regards Cazzesman I've got this on my watch list, really looking forward to it. Finished S2 of Shrinking and it was as good as S1. You're correct, Jessica Williams, is INCREDIBLE in this. Amazing that she was in the remake of Roadhouse and the writers/director completely wasted her talents (pretty poor movie anyway). 1
agisthos Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I'm really enjoying Anne Rice's 'Mayfair Witches'. Season 2 has just started and is very good. Having Alexandra Daddario as the lead certainly adds to it. 1
cazzesman Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 Finished it last night. Great series. There was only one scene in the last episode that just didn't work for me, but the rest was brilliant TV. Happy Viewing Regards Cazzesman 1

Happy Viewing Regards Cazzesman Yeah - I just finished it last night as well, and agree with your summary of the ending. A bit too morbid I felt, and a little inconclusive. (All that way for nothing...) Overall, however, it was superb and provides an insight into the inner working, at the time, of the Church of LDS, and the fate of the local Indian tribes. Very well acted and the action scenes were gripping.

Godot Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Ever since I saw “Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise”, I have been a fan of Timothy Spall.

cazzesman Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 https://www.rogerebert.com/streaming/the-pitt-tv-review-2025 The Pitt. 3 Episodes in and I'm hooked. Mind you, I found it helps to run the subtitles for all the medical jargon. Same but different to many other medical series. The rolling episodes work for me, i.e. A Shift in the Life. Sure, some of the characters are a tad cliched, but I guess the writers have to drive the drama somehow. Worth a look, but not for the squeamish. Regards Cazzesman 1

Regards Cazzesman Came here to talk about The Pitt too!! Also 3 episodes in and is desperate need of more!! Hate the week to week wait. Not been a massive fan of Medical shows since E.R., which I adored, so was a little hesitant to expect too much, but loving just about everything with this. Noah Wyle has stepped straight back into his Dr's scrubs from E.R. and I could not think of a better casting for this role. Agree about not for the squeamish...I looked through my hands a few times when some of the injuries where being assessed 1

I have no idea what they were trying to achieve but the director needs to be flogged. Bring back Anson Mount in Strange New Worlds ASAP. Bring back Anson Mount in 'Strange New Worlds' to wash the tase of S31 out of mouth. Regards Cazzesman 1 1
Steff Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) The Section 31 trailer is filled with plenty of warning signs (the kind of dialogue I remember mouthing as a 12-year-old while holding my Skywalker and Darth Vader figurine one in each hand: SW: "I will not follow you into darkness! DV: "You have no choice" SW: "I will never" etc.). In the meantime I pivoted from The Agency (some plotholes made me lose faith in they way spies do business) to its French original Le bureau des légendes - pretty good for a number of seasons but then goes all Homeland. The sweet spot is probably quit after season 2 or 3. Edited January 26 by Steff 1
Steff Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Paradise (with James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sterling K. Brown) starts off really well and is more than a "polit thriller" - definitely watch ep01 to the end for the "reveal". The start of ep02 really good fun. -- Asura follows four sisters, starting in 1979 Tokyo. Very chatty, fun dramedy. Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda who has made some notable films over the years. 3
cazzesman Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 Update time. Jacks Back. Reacher Season 3 - first 3 eps dropped. I was worried in the first 15 minutes and then it all fell into place. UK show Unforgotten is back for Season 6. Doesn't quite have the sparkle that the first 3 seasons had but it is fairly solid. Of course, there is White Lotus season 3. Walton Goggins plays the surly, Mr. Miserable guy. Fits him to a T. Posy Parker is always a gem. She constantly seems to be inches away from turning into a crazy serial killer. A 1000 Blows, the new show from Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight starts tonight. I enjoyed The Crow Girl - Eve Myles is always a very honest Actor and they gave her some great lines in this show. She wore the character like a glove. Fairly depressing but riveting. Excellent twist. Zero Day with DeNiro got off to a good start. The twist at the end of Eps 1 made for some fun to come. The Pitt still continues to enthrall. It is the train wreck that keeps on giving. The actual medical procedure scenes are amazing. The 2nd season of The Night Agent is just so, so. Capt Obvious here but the plot holes are bigger this season than Season 1. I can suspend belief, but I do have my limits. 2nd season of 'Am I Being Unreasonable' has started. It is a tough one to latch onto as it swerves between Comedy and Dramatic Domestic Infidelity. Lenny Rush steals every scene. He's a gem. Season 2 of 1923 a Taylor Sheridan TV show is back on the 24th. Let's face it, Streaming without Sheridan's characters on the screen is kinda empty. Happy viewing you all. Regards Cazzesman 1

Cramming way too many recent film and TV clichés into it, too. If you can't work out who's behind everything after the first ten minutes you've never watched TV. 2x playback speed minimum recommended. 1 2
