I watched three episodes, then deleted the rest.. Recorded on Fetch.. Just got a bit stupid for me..

Ha! I totally agree, it was patently ridiculous. It shows how worn down I had become after 19 house guests stultifying presence over the last 2 months. Love them all, but an endurance event for an extreme introvert. Tonight we start on the latest series of “Fargo”, I expect a much better experience.

Well it is farewell to 3 favorites.

Fool Me Once

Lessons in Chemistry

Fargo.

Loved them all.   The 3 female leads nailed it across the board.

1 Eps to go of the wonderful 'Drops of God.'    I'm not normally a huge 'subtitles' guy but this show is so well done I'm captivated.   Another female led series that hits the mark for me.

And onto another UK crime drama in 'Criminal Record'.   The insanely scary Peter Capaldi is on fire.   His constant underlying sarcasm and his withering stare, hint at pure malevolence.     What a great actor he is.   Trying to hold her own against him is the very talented Cush Jumbo.    She is like a drowning woman, grasping at floating twigs.    The first 2 episodes have been high class.

Happy viewing.

Death and Other Details.    On Hulu.

The ever-reliable Mandy Patinkin is back in a very watchable show.   Playing Rufus Coteworth, the “world’s greatest detective,”.

This is a good old-fashion 'who done it.'    A great cast of Actors and beautifully shot.   The bright pastel colors and 'Art Deco' vibe, work so well.

I'm always happy to see Jere Burns (Wynn Duffy from the 'Justified' TV Show) back on screen.   He does have an aura about him.

2 eps in and it is extremely enjoyable.

A few critics suggested it was abit hard to follow, with so many characters, but I haven't found that to be the case.

Happy viewing.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office.

Terrific UK dramatisation of a real-life story.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office tells how former subpostmasters and subpostmistresses were held liable by the Post Office for financial discrepancies thrown up by its computerised accounting system, Horizon.  The issues started around 2004.

Their pursuit led to more than 700 prosecutions, criminal convictions and, in some cases, prison sentences.

Many of those pursued were told to plead guilty to crimes or face jail, according to lawyers who have represented dozens of those impacted.

They were forced to pay the Post Office money it claimed had gone missing, which meant many lost their jobs, homes and lifesavings.

Toby Jones plays Mr Bates and there's a who's who of British character actors.

Frightening viewing as those effected had their lives destroyed.

Masters of the Air.

The entire show is obviously built around the bomb drops.   The rest is really 'kinda filla' between the missions.

The flying sequences are terrifying.    I have no doubt the depictions are realistic as Steven Spielberg nails it more often than not.

It only takes one mission, if they survive, for the airmen to realise the odds of them coming back are almost zero.    They are flying over Germany to bomb locations that are protected by Ground guns and the famous Germany fighter pilots in their hundreds (it appears).

They are in tin cans, waiting to be blown out of the sky.     Chilling.   Talk about ...'Thank you for your sacrifice."😢

I was watching S4 of Peaky Blinders and the great character Actor Aidan Gillen (GOT) makes an appearance.  I did a search of his recent jobs and came across the Irish Drama 'Kin'.

General very solid reviews.   I watched S1 Eps 1 the other night and think it is well worth a further look.

Just a follow up on KIN.   I loved Season 1 and am now 4 eps into Season 2.   I was browsing SBS on Demand and noted the 2 seasons are on there for anyone interested.   I have been watching it via Kodi.

keyser,

Once you have done some reading and research feel free to PM me if you have any questions.    I will say it helps to know your way around a computer to get the best from kodi.    It is not like having the Prime icon on your remote and smart TV then picking a show and start watching.

With the system comes a learning curve, but I think the payoff is immense.    I have been using Kodi for years now and from where it was when I started to now, is worlds apart.

What you need

Hardware device like a - Vero V, Nivida Shield, Nuc, etc   My choice is Vero V for $300 Aust.   It is purpose built for the job.

HDMI cable

Lan cable to the device and good internet download speeds for 4k viewing.   Note: I only use 2 channel audio, so if you want 5,6,8 channel, it is available but I'm not sure how good it is.

Some software you install from online

Real-Debrid Subscription  @ 6 months for $27 Aust

Thanks

But that is way beyond my comprehension of technology 😄

I am only interested in watching SBS without adds on tv

I watch a lot of cop shows like Kin but am unable to watch serious film on SBS because they are rendered worthless interrupted by adds

I hear you Keyser.   I gave up on FTA TV about 15 years ago.   Prior to Kodi all my watching came from EZYTV or The Pirate Bay.  Downloaded on USB and into a device cabled to the TV.

Keyser check this out and do some more research.

Happy Viewing.

Thanks for sharing.

I assume you can do this in the settings for a Apple TV or Telstra TV etc as well?

Atlast some new shows to latch onto.

Elsbeth - Fans of The Good Wife and The Good Fight will know the character of Elsbeth.  Husband and wife directors Michelle and Robert King have given Carrie Preston her own show as Elsbeth Tascioni.   Quirky and abit of light fun.

The Regime - Kate Winslet playing a hypochondriac, leader of a European country.   Her quirks of office may lend a little bit towards a certain Ex USA President.   It will be interesting to see if the quirks she has can maintain it, or it becomes one trick pony.

The Gentleman - A Guy Ritchie TV series spin off.    Written and produced by Ritchie.  Eps 1 had all the Ritchie staples of Gangsters, Drugs, Boxing and a host of scallywags with funny accents.     Looks good fun.

Griselda - It has already been mentioned in this thread by others.     I give it a solid B.    What is did show is that Sofía Vergara is more than just an Eye candy Character.    She can act.   The facial Prothetics really help you forget who she had played in other shows.

The completely made-up adventures of Dick Turpin. - Noel Fielding gets to show his low-key comedy stick and does it very well.    It could have been a trite disaster, but I find it actually does have its LOL moments.    The script is snappy and rarely cliched.    Good fun at around 25 mins an episode.    Maybe for lovers of Black Adder, just not quite as cutting or cynical.

Happy viewing.

The Gentlemen TV series - It was a hoot.   So well written and such grand fun.   Well worth a look for abit of Guy Ritchie 'gangsta' fun.

3 Body Problem - SyFy.    The latest offering from the makers of GOT - David Benioff & D.B. Weiss.    Based on a book written by a Chinese gent in 2008.   I watched Eps 1 yesterday and it was pretty rock solid.

I went back and watch Fargo TV series - Season 1.   I had forgotten so much of it.    Simply glorious fun.

Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks and Martin Freeman.     BBT and Freeman were just magnificent.

Happy Viewing you lot.

Finally finished Dark season 3 on Netflix.....not sure what to say. Really enjoyed season 1...after that, it was fine, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped from the reviews.

Also watched S4 of True Detective.

S1 was a TV masterpiece IMO. I can see why the other series do not rate as highly, but each one is essentially a stand alone show, which different styles. I think the following seasons suffer from S1 being so damn good and viewers expecting the same style as S1.  I enjoyed S4, and thought the acting was really solid throughout. A few elements of the story line didn't quite hit the mark for me, but overall, I was happy with it. Nice to see Jodie Foster as the lead in a TV series and loved her in this.

I have read the books, it was hard to understand everything that was going on. I like the look of this though, I will definitely give it a go.
