Finally finished Ripley.    Glorious, just glorious.    The black and white video just nailed it.   Andrew Scott was sublime.   TV show of the my year so far.    5 Stars.

For fans of Peaky Blinders, you should take a look at This Town.   Written by PB writer, Steven Knight.   Set again in Birmingham, this time between 1970 and 1990.    Another absolute winner.

It involves, music, gangs, IRA, romance and simply trying to survive in such a tough working class area at the time.

Loving it.

Happy viewing.

Started watching The Tattooist of Auschwitz on Stan over the weekend.

Really enjoying it (not sure if that's the right way to describe watching it).  I think it's well made and acted.

They've chosen to do it in English language, which i thought odd at the start, but used to it now.  The movie "Enemy at the Gates" did this years ago, and had all actors speak in their native accent too and it was still a great movie.

Final season (9) of the Brilliant 'Inside No. 9' has recommenced.   Eps 1 was a hoot.

This Town - written by Peaky Blinder writer Steven Knight was very good and highly recommended.

Finally got around to watching the Irish Police series 'Blue Light'.  Loved Season 1.   Tough gig being a Copper near Dublin.    Well worth a look if you are into gritty drama.

The Brilliant 'Interview with the Vampire' just started season 2.    Love this show.

I have pumped up this show before and I will do it one last time.

Inside No. 9.     If you haven't seen it, then it is free on iView.     The very last episode, eps 6 of season 9, aired a few nights back.

Brilliant as always.

Give it a go.   You will thank me.

Some comedy shows.

Colin From Accounts Season 2

I watched S2 Eps 3 - Heavy, last night.

Justin Rosniack stole this hilarious episode. I loved Justin in Mr Inbetween and Squinters.

The Heavy script was simply LOL for its entirety but........in the main scene where Justin, Patrick and Harriet were talking and drinking on the patio table, that slayed me. His shite stirring and subtle digs really tugged a nerve.😛

The Cleaner

On iview.    Greg Davies as the Crime Scene Cleaner.   His sarcasm and frustration with life know no bounds.  Wonderfully written.   Each episode has a different theme and a cameo from well-known actors.

Austin

On iview.    Easy-going and amusing Australian comedy.   It's worth watching the 1st Eps to see if it catches your imagination.   Sally Phillips an English Actress steals every scene she is in.

Happy viewing.

I was expecting something more, slightly disappointed. Only very small snippets of songs by bands of the time used.

Check this out and their other videos. A little too much talking but the archival footage is great

Interview With the Vampire season 2 Eps 7 - "I Could Not Prevent It".

OMG.   This show is just WOW!!!   Sam Reid was back tonight as Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, and he was in fine, fine, fine form.

Reid is just mesmerising to watch.    He is an Actor, 'Par Excellence'.     Truly, you cannot take your eyes off him.

A brilliant show in every respect.

Enjoy the viewing.

I know I am late to the party but..........................

Tour De France: Unchained ....................on Netflix

OMG.    The video footage from the bikes/cars/motorcycles is incredible.

https://www.netflix.com/au/title/81153133

The crashes are frightening.     These guys are some of the bravest in the world at what they do.

It is scary to travel at such speeds, inside a human swarm of 150+ riders, with just some flimsy garment between them and the bitumen.   Then there are the high-speed descents, with nothing but air and a long fall over the edge of the road, if they get it wrong.    Utter Madness.

Just up to Eps 3 of season 1.     Season 2 just started.

The Bear - Season 3 Eps 1.    Some of the greatest editing I have seen on TV.    30 mins of 'Carmy memories', all backed by a Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross soundtrack.

Glorious viewing.    If you have never seen the Bear before, it will make zero sense, so first timers beware.

Happy viewing.

Finally started Series 3 and have absolutely loved it.

Have seen some criticisms online, but don't agree with them. Episode 1 was BRILLIANT.

Watched The Bear Season 3 - eps Napkins last night.   Wow that 10-minute scene between Liza Colón-Zayas (Tina) and Jon Bernthal (Mikey) was an acting master class.   Such a brilliant show.  🥰

Apparently, it took 2 days to film the scene.
The Eps was directed by fellow actor Ayo Edebiri (Sydney)

Hello you'all, it has been a few months.

TV hasn't been great but it is picking up a tad now.

Shows I have watched and others I am enjoying of late.

Boy Swallows Universe -was terrific, although the final episode lost some of the show's sparkle.

KAOS -  Jeff Goldblum is note perfect in his quirky role as Zeus.   Very enjoyable take on the Greek Gods.

Bad Monkey - Vince Vaughn is a real standout in this quirky show.    VV plays a suspended Detective trying to get his job back.   He works on a Murder case with assorted sidekicks.    Brilliant dialogue all around.    VV is impressive.

Slow Horses - has just started Season 4.

Red Eye - is a show a friend put me onto.   A decent thriller, set on a plane.   MI5 and China go at it.  Not too bad.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt23897504/

Under the Banner of Heaven - mixes true crime with the Mormons.  Andrew Garfield is a top-line Actor.   Great supporting cast.   Based on a real life Homicide from 1984.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1998372/

Sugar - Film Noir style Detective/Missing person with a big twist.   Colin Farrell holds it all together

Presumed Innocent - remake

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Ruth Negga, Peter Sarsgaard

Directed By: Jake Gyllenhaal, David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams

Very entertaining version.   Great suspense.  Jake is good but Ruth is a standout.

Happy viewing

REALLY loved Under the Banner of Heaven. Garfield is an outstanding actor and smashes this role.

Agree on Presumed Innocent, very entertaining and Ruth Negga was phenomenal in it.

Will be watching S4 of Slow Horses, fantastic series with the always outstanding Gary Oldman.

KAOS  and Bad Monkey have both been on my list to watch, but not got onto them as yet.

Just started Tulsa King, after not being sure if it was worth a go, but first few episodes have been fine.

Slow Horses is back with a fourth season, pretty good start. Seasons 2-3 had very good openings but then dipped noticeably in storytelling quality, stringing the audience along on piecemeal revelations and microwave-dinner-drama until the season finale. Oh well, Kristin Scott Thomas is back, so fingers crossed.
