Love me a good spy show (will anything ever get close to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy?)

The Agency is rather heavyweight: Director Joe Wright, cast: Fassbender, Gere, Katherine Waterston (whom I love), Jodie Turner-Smith, Jeffrey Wright...

Not scripted by Taylor Sheridan. I can tell. @cazzesman

also, turntable ten minutes in.

Thanks Steff.   It was on the list.   Gotta break the hold TS has on me. 😵‍💫

Maybe a Agency/Landman double tonight to ween me off gently. 😛

If you like the above 'spy' type stuff, you may like the 'Homeland' series (sorry if it's been mentioned previously).

Hi gemini,

I reckon I got to about season 5 then bailed.    For me it jumped the shark.   People in power having such breakdowns doesn't ring true.

Says the guy who watches people have breakdowns every show...........................but it was just one breakdown to many for me.

Loved the first 3 seasons then...................................mmmmmmmmmmm

The entire run of Homeland was very strong with the only weak one being Season 3, which was a necessary Season required to finish the Nicholas Brody storyline.

At that point I though the show was done, but Season 4 was good, then the last 4 seasons were fantastic. A remarkable recovery.

Interesting... perhaps watch what happens in the (disunited) US of A. There might well be a four year series that makes Homeland look like a Kindergarten play.

The 4 years could well fall under the category of...........If a writer pitched such a drama to a Director, he would say the story line is too far fetched ...😋

The Old Man I lost interest in.   I got 3/4 of the way through S1 and just started watching other stuff.    Tokyo Vice is on the list but I just haven't got around to it.    Thanks for the reminder.

I really enjoyed MotA.     The flying scenes were done so well.    They were frightening to watch and the fear from the actors was palpable.     The value of life for those onbaord the planes was simply zero.     As the planes returned to base, those watching and counting the numbers, made it even more real.     20 would leave and 8 come back.

I get there were a couple of side plots that were Hohum, but over all I found it a good ripping yarn that showed how fleeting life was at the time.     It showed it was simply dumb luck if you safely made it back from a mission.    Actors Turner, Boyle and Butler are all very talented.

Happy viewing.

Now this looks a hoot.    The brilliant Bryan Fuller back directing.

The promo is visually stunning.

Happy New Year SyFy fans.

Great wrap up  of the year of great Television.

Haven't watched all of those, but many are on my list.

Just finishing up Day of the Jackal, which I've enjoyed and also started Cross, which has started solidly, but I do like Aldis Hodge in most things he does.

Landman and Lioness will follow, along with Shrinking, Severence and Silo over the Christmas break

Watched Eps 1 last night.   My wife and I loved it.   Abit of The Gentlemen in it.    100% looks like one for the list.

@cazzesman I think Monsieur Spade deserves to be on the 2024 honours list. It's six episodes of unhurried storytelling, and Clive Owen plays the part of retired expat Spade very well.

"Get Millie Black" - not sure what channel it's actually on ... as we get to it from our Foxtel remote.

Very interesting plot-line - but it could sure do with some subtitles in English ... as the Jamaican patois is often impenetrable.

One show I recently watched that was a lot of fun was 'Monarch Legacy of Monsters'. Its basically Godzilla the TV show, and ties back to the cold war with flashbacks, and has Kurt Russell as one of the leads. It has hugely expensive production values as well, making it all look like a big budget movie.

@Steff loving Monsieur Spade.    Owen’s is excellent and the script a cracker.

Cheers.
