For a start it’s 16/44.1 and 24/48 from what you get in Apple TV with HDMI. Sounds magical. Here are some screen shots of Volumio and Apple Music. I'm listening to this album now. iPad Air > Auralic Altair G1 via usb. It sounds sublime, so dynamic! One of the best sounding recordings I have heard on Apple Music.

You won’t get full HRL out of Apple Music any other way. Airplay2 is 16 bit/48kHz only. Apple TV gives you 24 bit / 48 kHz but you have to use hdmi. my astell and kern DAP will do apple music lossless.. so that is another way to go https://www.stereonet.com/forums/topic/319370-astell-kern-owners-thread/?do=findComment&comment=5823556 1
neweskimo Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I have recently hooked up my ipad mini 6 with usb (c to b) to my Simaudio 280D Dac and cant get anything over 44.1 using apple lossless (and changing the settings on the Ipad for lossless sound etc). Has anyone managed to get over 44.1 using apple music or do I need to use Tidal or other software to do this?

Yes, you need the apple A/V adapter, then go from the USB-A output of that to the USB-B input on the DAC. 2

Try Golden Earring - Moontan (Remastered and expanded). It's 24/96 which is what my DAC tells me too. I'm using an iPad Air 4th gen and a plain old usb-c to b cable. No fancy A/V adapter. 1
jbprophoto Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 I use Apple Music and High Res Lossless exclusively with lots of playlists etc and I have many Folders and playlists for critical listening in super high res lossless. I regularly play 24/96 but have a few folders of critical listening tracks with many in the 24/192 and even the odd track in 24/384. Many of the older "classic artists" have been added to Apple Music in 24/96 or 24/192 iPhone> Apple Music App > High Quality Low Jitter USB Cable > Topping D90SE DAC etc etc
powerav Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 A very good Dolby Atmos mix of this album.
powerav Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Make sure to download the latest Apple TV firmware 17. There are reports of quite noticeable audio improvements to atmos audio for which I would have to agree. 1

You use Apple TV for Atmos, what about 2 channel stereo? Im considering making the switch from Spotify to Apple TV because I want lossless + video content + Atmos which apart from Tidal I believe its the only streaming service that can do all three. Apple also do it better than Tidal at less cost.

For stereo I use a raspberry pi4 with Roon into a topping e10 dac into analog on INTEGRA 3.4 and March audio power amp into Maggie’s .7 and 2 svs pb1000 subs. Stereo is far superior this way rather then Apple TV as that would have to use HDMI for stereo which I assume is the issue. I was hoping the eversolo dm6 would do Dolby Atmos for Apple Music but it doesn’t look like it. i made the switch from Spotify to Apple Music and couldn’t be happier as Apple Music lossless stereo on headphone or in the car sounds great. The subscription to Apple Music for Dolby Atmos is worth it alone as the fun factor is huge an absolute must in my opinion if you have an Atmos home theatre set up, I don’t watch movies anymore as Atmos music is just so great. 1

I think the versatility of Apple Music will probably get me over the line. So Apple Music is compatible with Roon? I did some initial research earlier this week and didn't think it was.

Sorry seems like im going back to noob town because ive really only know Apple Music to be airplay friendly which takes away any hi-res playback FWIW.

No sorry again. I use the raspberry pi only for Roon and my own music on my NAS, no Apple Music here at all. I really only use Apple Music on my main system for Apple Atmos Music through Apple TV. 1

powerav Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 If anyone already has an Atmos setup in a room then for something like $200 for an Apple TV to play Dolby Atmos music is without a doubt the absolute best hifi deal ever. 3

powerav Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 When you have this specialty stuff mixed by legends like Steven Wilson it just goes to another level of awesomeness 1
