Turns out the superchargers and Nu Vista 300s have more than the manufacturer's name in common. Some good insights there … good on you I know the x-p100 pre I have has same board as nu-vista pre just uses j-fets same power supply just in a nicer nuvista power supply case I see it as the solid state alternative to my-vista 1
agisthos Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 When I first discovered this hobby in 2001/02 Musical Fidelity was very prominent in the British hifi magazines at the time. And I was smitten by the looks of the A3.2 and A308 series. I still think the industrial design with the brushed aluminium look has never been topped by MF. The models that came later looked too clean. One thing I remember MF did was dual mono transformers - even on the lower lines such as A3.2, and the use of choke regulated power supplies, Antony Michaelson would always mention it as some edge they had over competing brands. Looking at the internal pics of the new products, a single transformer, and no chokes at all. All that metal costs money and is the first place to cut costs when the company ran into financial trouble. After all this time I still have never heard a thing from this brand, not at a dealer, friend or in my own system !!
