caminperth Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 A call out to all Perth based members - Please help us support Astral Weeks with their application to open a listening bar in Northbridge. You may have heard of this project, the guys are putting together Perth's (and Australia's I think?)first dedicated listening bar and plan to utilise Line Magnetic gear as the front end. I know the guys would be grateful if Perth members could help with letters of support for this project so they can get through the relevant regulatory process. If you can, please send through your letter to Sean O’Neill at sean.oneill@solaceproject.com.au – if you need a hand to put together the letter, shoot me a private message and I’ll pass on a template. 11

Guest Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Happy to help - maybe some front page exposure if there's a good story in it (which I am sure there is). 2

Guest Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 So...Hifi and alcohol combined. Probably for the best that I'm not in Perth anymore, for my health I mean. I'll send a support letter. Sounds freakin awesome.
caminperth Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 So they boys are quite busy with the behind-the-scenes stuff so don't have any web pages up yet, however do have instagram here - https://www.instagram.com/astral_weeks_bar/?utm_medium=copy_link @astral weeks 1
STROP Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 If Redback is being served... will be there in a flash, good luck with this venture.

Jon Snow Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 A fantastic venture! Best of luck to them in getting the bar up and running. It takes true passion to invest time, effort and money in setting up a listening bar. I’ve watched every you tube video doco I could find about the owners behind the great vinyl bars around the world. They all have one thing in common - a passion for bringing people together in a comfortable space to enjoy their shared loved for high quality music through hifi and the feeling this creates. One day later in I life I plan to open a vinyl bar. For now it’s a pipe dream , a nice one 1
cafe67 Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 How does this work, surely the moment you get enuff people the ambient noise will drown out the music or do you listen in hushed revered tones ?

Demondes Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 I guess it would be like any Jazz club you hope the loud talkers are furthest away from the focal point, or in a separate talking room. alternatively 1) a team of retired librarians will patrol the crowd shushing loud talkers 2) you will be given a zoom meeting ID and told to rejoin from home 2 2
Al.M Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 (edited) What kind of regulatory support are they looking for? Edited September 4, 2021 by Al.M

Ok, I don’t think random letters of support from the public will do much, but council usually requires a LL section 40 Planning and 39 Health certificates, including properly constructed, designed and compliant building and operation. Any likelihood of excessive noise from amplified music affecting their neighbours will go against it. 2

I was required to produce a vaccination certificate yesterday to enter a pub for lunch. I turned around and went to Dome next door for lunch instead, no certificate required. I'm all for Fortress WA to maintain the status quo past 5th February. Edited January 21, 2022 by brodricj
