hi!  alvin, was there a comparison with totaldac?

There is one, but, IMO, way too brief to kill the Terminator. To each his own...

Not yet ! I am in the midst of writing a review for the Terminator. My personal DAC is the Totaldac D1-Six. Is there any specific thing you want to find out ?

Thanks Eric! Look forward to your review. :D

Hi I had a denafrips pontus demo from Alvin. Too bad couldn't find the necessary cable to connect to my dap.

Just want to compliment Alvin for his prompt & quick delivery of the dac to my place.

Looks beautiful.

I would like to try the Ares once his stock comes in. 81508a6cb7e42ec0fdfabbb507e998f7.jpg8b3d1cf87fb3446f9e103c26278d4ee4.jpg7e68669baa4728507bf04fc8667c9ff6.jpg

Finally took a bite at the denafrips Ares.

No regrets. Out of the box it just sounded fantastic. 11a7d3d6718f578f7b121e09c36774ca.jpg1f6f8c260078f12f9d6ecfea674cb57a.jpg

i can't really give you much feedback, as his setup vastly different from my own. but i had heard his Denafrips DAC before he replaced Dave. the Denafrips hold its quite well at its own price tag level. improves ones setup pretty well. i am not a DAC lover, so would consider buying other products to compliment the improvement. its a personal preference, go for it if you want the much need resolution and details.

Anyone can tried Terminator and Chord Dave? Any feedback is appreciated.

Very different tonality. The Terminator has a gentler top end presentation compared to the the Dave. The Terminator is warmer and has a relaxed tone, while the Dave is the high-information type of DAC. The Dave has a digital volume control and headphone output, and upgrade path by pairing it with a M Scaler. Both are excellent DACs in their respective price brackets.

Instead of the Dave, you can also consider the Qutest paired with a M Scaler.

I am using Terminator with Singxer SU-6. Currently the channel is reversed. I tried a few combination on Singxer dip switch eg. all off, 3 & 6 on. Nothing happen? Terminator did not come with any instruction manual.    Anyone know how to configure Terminator for I2S? All information need to google....

There should be dp setting in su6 to reverse the channel

Else u can try pressing the mode button on ur termi

Gustard protocol - 1x, 2x and 4x light up

PS audio protocol - only 1x light up

* To change mode press the mode button to cycle thru various combination of the 1x, 2x and 4x indicator

** both singxer and denafrips can adapt to different i2s protocol. U need to set them to one common standard - can be ps audio, gustard etc

Found some useful info

I2s standard reference:

https://download.shenzhenaudio.com/Gustard/GUSTARD%20U16%20USB%20Driver/GUSTARD%20U16%20IIS.pdf

Take note of the data, bck, lrclk (whether they are positive or negative)

Corresponding setting on termi on page 5: https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/4b933e_81b73a51d21a4814800733cd8bbb0e70.pdf

There are other i2s protocols eg holo, agd etc - but u can give the above 2 settings a shot

I usually switch all dp switch off on singxer (ps audio protocol) and set denafrips to ps audio too (ie 1x light up when pressing the mode button on termi)

Thanks for the information. I did try the method you mentioned in the last sentence but without success.

A very challenging DAC to play with... not plug and play type.
