I'll attach a video if i can, but basically when I get up from the couch most of the time the audio and video will cut out for a few seconds... Thanks in advance all! Cafad Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 When you stand up would you happen to be directly in between the wi-fi antennas that are sending and receiving? Wi-Fi hates water, and since people are mostly water you just might be messing with the signal unintentionally.
tba Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 maybe some sort of proximity sensor on the tv? eg https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00019909 2

Also interrupting the wifi signal wouldn't turn off the TV and receiver momentarily.
Ittaku Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Could be static electricity and EMI from what you're sitting on being discharged as you stand up. I had it in one place and it turned out to be the hydraulic suspension of the chair (true story). You should try one of those old arse static discharge strips you used to see dangling from cars made in the 60s.

Woody982 Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 I forgot to include in the original post that it only started doing this after upgrading to having amps as well - rather then just the AVR 2 hours ago, Cafad said: I notice you haven't offered an alternative possibility. It wouldn't be anything to do with that, as I'm playing the media through the Shield, which is connected via Ethernet 4 hours ago, Pebbles said: The solution is pretty obvious Don't get up? 5 hours ago, Ittaku said: Could be static electricity and EMI from what you're sitting on being discharged as you stand up. Just dangling to touch the floor or?

I'll give it a go!

Ittaku Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Here is something that may be related if you have a hydraulic seat, and likely what I was dealing with: https://www.theregister.com/2020/01/09/office_chair_emissions/
GaryT Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 I think I remember seeing EEVBlog do a video on the hydraulic chair effect, but in this case I think it's static discharge (bad HDMI cables are super susceptible to this and will cause a TV to go black momentarily) , or an EMF kick from the electric recliner motor.
GregWormald Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Are you sure there isn't an old remote control stuck in the chair? (Static electricity sounds the most reasonable.) 2 2
The Rock Puppy Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Are you familiar with the film "The Exorcist"? Could be worth looking into. 4
frodo Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 leaning on remote when you get up ? Poltergeist ?
Jeddie Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Best mystery so far ----> Can't wait for the outcome. 1
Telecine Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 The system is clearly in shock that you got out of the chair. 4

doogie44 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 I may have solved your problem, Grasshopper: MAN Doctor, I think I am turning into a dog PSYCHIATRIST Well, that's extraordinary. Why don't I examine you? Just get up on the couch... MAN I'm not allowed on the couch 2
