VinylChef Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Excellent condition British B&W DM6 Mk2 'Pregnant Penguin' speakers with consecutive serial numbers. Recapped and completely restored, they sound magnificent, with real power but also incredible finesse (voices in particular are startlingly natural). When I acquired these they had TW26sl tweeters installed, which are not original. I sourced the rare, expensive but correct TW20 tweeters which are in outstanding condition. One of the speakers also had damage to the woodwork on one side, which has been repaired (see pic). Apart from this, a wrinkle in a bass cone which does not affect performance, and a few edges where the previous owner enthusiastically sanded through the veneer, they are in truly superb condition and will likely last for another 10-20 years before requiring any servicing. Here is what I have done: -Replaced tweeters with original correct parts -Completely recapped crossover with ME and Dayton capacitors, Vishay bypass capacitors, MOX resistors and replaced the ferrite cored inductor in the signal path with Jantzen air cored version (see pic) -New satin nickel Dayton 5-way binding posts -Completely new grill cloths -Re-seated and reinforced all loose T-nuts holding the bass and mid woofers -Cleaned and lubed all pots and switches -New gaskets on midrange woofers -Deoxit and lubed all connections -Deep cleaned and lubed all screws and bolts -New fuses 1
erest Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) I have a pair of these in original satin white. I can attest how good they sound. Just awesome speakers. GLWTS. What grabs you is the meaty midrange and exceptional bass for a sealed box of this size. Edited September 29, 2021 by erest 1

erest Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Sent you PM with images, and details. Cabinets came in Satin White, Teak, Wallnut or Rosewood. Would have been a shock seeing them in White in the 70s I reckon...
