sleach Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 I am excited by the new amp that arrived today so decided to make this post. I've moved from contemporary active speakers to a more vintage system recently. Currently it is this: TAD exclusive 2301 speakers TAD exclusive M10 power amplifier Technics s1200 mk 2 TT Mastersounds Radius 2 mixer Lindemann Limetree Streamer RME ADI Dac Some upgrades to come: Isonoe 420 mixer has been ordered (to arrive Feb 22) Cables: currently mostly Sommer, which I like but there is some slightly messy adapting from balanced to single that could be improved. Cartridges: currently Concorde club but considering Nagaoka mp110h or 100 Sounds RC DJ100. Rack/equipment stand: Not sure what to do here- build something or buy. Open to suggestions on that one. 24 6

Jehuty Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Fantastic horn and I like the rack too. Is it custom made? It gives more vintage vibes, love it! 1

Galactic Soap Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 This is brilliant!!! Can't wait to see the new Isonoe 420 in situ. What do you spin? 1

I'm happy with the way it is coming together. I play a bit of electro, techno and house and a lot of modular synth cosmic type stuff. 1 1

Mostly I listen at low volume so there isn't much movement, but once in a while the neighbours are out and we can clear the cobwebs! 1
muriwai Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Any thoughts on the limetree streamer to share?

Sound quality is the best I have had in a streamer, compared with Cambridge CXN, allo, bluesound, , NAD and Primare. And it's really intuitive and stable which is nice in a streamer The only.thing I miss is a screen showing what's playing and maybe a pause button on the unit. So I'm still considering maybe something like a Naim uniti, or pioneer n70 perhaps. 1
sleach Posted November 29, 2021 Author Posted November 29, 2021 Somehow tonight has become a Japanese vintage theme night! 5
sleach Posted November 30, 2021 Author Posted November 30, 2021 Added some supertweeters. Apparently the TAD 2301 sometimes had a supertweeter to make it a 3way. The real TAD supertweeters are hard to find and expensive. I found these wood horn ones on a Chinese website, they were well reviewed so I took a punt. I'm happy with the visual match with the speaker but they are much more efficient than the mains so I need to attenuate and maybe set up a crossover for the frequency. Very open to suggestions about how to do that in a way that isn't too expensive! 4
sleach Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 I've repurposed the crossovers from a pair of Aperion supertweeters. The result is a much better integration. A definite improvement adding just a hint of air and sparkle. 1
sleach Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 A follow up: I've just acquired some comments for a new speaker project in 2022. I want to try some full scale Tannoys! 1
