My new fuses arrive from SCHURTER in the USA on Tuesday and I again thank other StereoNET members for their support and guidance in this matter. Audio Research in Minnesota and here locally tried to help with my weird fuse but I got there in the end. No upgrade fuse of any brand will work in my amp so I'll explore another option.

Lucky my Audio Research Integrated amp did not blow a fuse during all this. The whole issue of supply chains is making life awkward for everyone. The value of the Aussie Dollar and the charges to get audio gear to Australia makes things very nasty. The days of "yes....I have that in stock" are long gone and supporting local Importers and their Dealers has never been more important. The number of Importers maintaining their current prices for audio gear is incredible.

There are probably other manufacturers that make extra slow blow fuses, like Littelfuse, or Eaton Bussman, but that was just the first and most prolific brand to show up..

Thanks again! The amp is no longer in production by Audio Research......the people from the company (taken over by some conglomerate last year) were unable to help with supplying the fuse. Audio research make it more complex by having a different fuse type for each model they sell.

Yeah, but fuses are just generic consumables, they're not made by the amplifier manufacturer..

Bob,

Not sure how to respond......major task to get the fuses for my amp. Even the seller was a bit confused by what I wanted to achieve......a backup fuse would be a reasonable ask......apparently a backup fuse was supplied with the amp originally.

Off topic,

After being accused of dumping rubbish,  I now ripped that connote that has personal details including bar codes etc that can identify you in any way.
Usually 99% of clients dispose of rubbish correctly……. In 35yrs of working,  12mths prior,  after servicing someones gear,  I left used parts in boxes in there hard waste bin.  Month and a 1/2 later, I was contacted by the distributing courier company to say that the boxes with my details ended up dumped on a building site.   Looking at the photos that the council took,  we tracked down four  boxes via part numbers that were used on the service call that pointed to that client that lived 1.2km from that building site.    All 4 items that were identified were entered into that job.    $10k fine for individuals,  $50k fine for company!    The guy was then sacked!

Interesting warning I got yesterday re QSA products (IEC Jitters in particular) being produced inside China and being counterfeit.Other companies like Kimber Kable and Audioquest and Nordost have been battling this problem for years and have elaborate measures in place to identify counterfeit copies.

Audioquest offer a free inspection service in the USA for its products. If they detect a counterfeit they destroy the item. No compensation is offered. I saw a 2.5m set of Speaker Cables recently....Nordost Clones with fake WBT connectors.......probably from AliExpress. At least they had the decency not to use the word "Valhalla".

Hence the reason why you should purchase from reputable dealers.!

But everyone is very keen to get a "good price".......and the Counterfeiters (Chinese or otherwise) are always there to take financial advantage. The counterfeit cables were treated as a bit of a joke by the owner.......but there is another side to that joke.

Agree. However, if you're buying from someone unknown and the price is ridiculously low, then obviously something is wrong!
