Darren69 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Well after all of my hyping up, I didn't really go much on that one. Spoiler Horny priest very quickly injected into show, I think I will end up hating Ivar and his love of killing for the sake of it and Lagertha raping guys, haha, yeah OK, that was funny but a bridge too far methinks. And he then escaped quite easily. The remaining interests for me are Beorn, Floki and Aethelwulf. Hope it gets better.
Al.M Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Good show this week, looking forward to Lagertha’s army of babes kicking some more arse later on.
pc10 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 disappointed with the HD quality on this series of Vikings. Looks washed out almost an upscale - same on VAST SBS HD.
mrbuzzardstubble Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Yay HISTORY® ORDERS 20 EPISODE SIXTH SEASON OF HIT DRAMA SERIES ‘VIKINGS’ New York, NY – September 12, 2017 – HISTORY has ordered a 20 episode sixth season of the hit drama series “Vikings,” it was announced today by Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President of Programming, HISTORY. Additionally, series regular Katheryn Winnick is set to helm one episode in season six, marking her directorial debut. Production for season six is slated to begin this fall in Ireland. “‘Vikings’ has creatively sailed to monumental lengths. The series has evolved from early raids in England, to the heart-stopping death of Ragnar Lothbrok, to the fierce battles of the Great Heathen Army, and now we’ll see the sons of Ragnar exploring and conquering the known world,” said Lehrer. “Michael Hirst has only scratched the surface of his epic saga. We look forward to continuing our partnership with one of the greatest writers in this era of Peak TV and entertaining our viewers with 40 new episodes over the next two seasons.” “It has been my pleasure and my privilege to work with HISTORY and our partner MGM over five seasons and 69 episodes of ‘Vikings.’ Now we are ready to begin production of a 20 episode season six that will deliver a huge and unexpected revelation to our audience,” said Michael Hirst, creator and executive producer. “There are many reasons why I love this show, not least for the commitment and creativity of everyone involved in making it, but perhaps even more important is the spirit that drives this production - one of the happiest, most collaborative and most authentic productions I have ever been involved with. And so we sail on.” “Vikings” is the critically acclaimed series from creator and sole writer Michael Hirst (Academy Award® winning film Elizabeth and the Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated series “The Tudors”) and is a family saga that tells the remarkable tales of the lives and epic adventures of the raiders and explorers of the Dark Ages. Season five cast includes series regulars Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors”), who joined this season, as “Bishop Heahmund” along with Katheryn Winnick (“Lagertha”), Gustaf Skarsgård (“Floki”), Alexander Ludwig (“Bjorn”), Alex Høgh Andersen (“Ivar the Boneless”), Jordan Smith (“Ubbe”) and Marco Ilso (“Hvitserk”). Winnick’s role as Lagertha has garnered her a “Best Supporting Actress” nomination at the 2015 Critic’s Choice Television Awards and a “Best Performance by a Lead Dramatic Actress" nomination at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards.
Darren69 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Last episode was the worst I have seen I think. Hope it gets better.

Made me think it was time for the series to finish. It has really has lost focus and direction since Ragnar's death. None of the next generation is stepping up as a heroic or sympathetic character to keep the show moving forward. 1

If all else fails mate I will probably but the series anyhow on DVD and you can watch them, is a fantastic series.
mrbuzzardstubble Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 I'm not sure if SBS has more episodes up its sleeve to televise later this year. I thought series 5 was supposed to have 20 episodes. A few regulars have been killed off in the last couple of screenings but the boneless one's come into his own and I do like the English priest. Both characters are well acted. Pity the Sami (Lapland) girl went so soon. Didn't get to see enough of her Lagertha's still around though I think the Vikings will meet their match in England under the new king. He's a smart cookie and will probably build his navy to confront the foe at sea. Looking forward to the next installment. 1

I don't mind the English priest, his acting can be put on a bit thick sometimes but what's not to like about an Athelstan-that-can-swing-a-15kg-sword? Spoiler Myess, the little Sami lady was...quite nice...Beorn certainly thought so... I think Rollo should have appeared in the second last show and then the final one could have been more interesting. No idea why the brother just stood there and let his other brother strike his neck, that was random. Maybe he is signed up to another series somewhere. Edited February 4, 2018 by Darren69 1
Two Flies Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) Good ol Athelstan the man who could have talked them in to Paris if not for that 1/2 smart Floki the Barnaby Joyce of Vikings correction that's giving him to much credit the Tony Abbott of Vikings. zenikoy Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) This piece pretty much captures my feelings about the final & whole season. My only hope for the next season is Ivar getting a blood eagle. https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2018/01/25/vikings-season-5-midseason-finale-review-a-bad-ending-to-a-bad-season/#4daf5b1060e0 Edited February 5, 2018 by enikoy 2
