Has anyone tried these? Curious what the quality will be like. I'm contemplating getting a pair and keeping the cd's in the back compartment and nic nacs on the front.

Looks a bit cheap as it is but it's a cool design idea - something like that in real teak or walnut or blackwood would be great -

also nice and discreet- personally the only media i like havng on display is records and books

Thanks a tonnie for everyone's recommendations. I'm focusing on slimline CD cabinets but i'm not there yet with identifying the right one for the space. Will keep looking and share anything cool I see here :)

Check out IKEA Kallax and all the accessories that go with it. Cheap as chips, various sizes, sturdy and with a number of finishes. The cube like openings are also perfect for LP's.

It's flat pack so there's also that sense of achievement when you've put it together.

Best CD storage I ever used was simple wall shelving. Attached to the wall with enough support to avoid sag, about 2.5m long. Allowed such easy access and ordering. Sadly no photo as all in cabinets as streaming my ripped CDs these days.

I have not found any better than the original Tower stands i have 370 CDs stored in 3 of these (with room for another 100) in alphabetical order with a 15 sec retrevial time. Each footprint is 15cm by 30cm and you can reposition at will anytime. Charity shops is one source of supply.

German company Regaflex offers cd storage that is completely customizebale: width, height, material. I have one in my tiny cave and I love it. It may not be pretty itself (I chose the MDF version), but it pretty much disappears once it‘s filled. You can also adjust the height for special editions/boxes.

This is thanks to Ikea but they're all FLAC'd into my Innuos Zen Mini and sat in boxes in the garage until we buy a new place. Then they will be back out and displayed in their glory, hopefully in nicer furniture.

Like many I still adore the physical act of looking, taking out liner notes etc

I used to have a wall rack and still have a smaller version of what you have, however we have stored some of our collection and rarely play anything except the odd vinyl record these days. I have hundreds maybe thousands of hours of music stored on my media PC and generally just use that or stream music. I often wonder what I should do with all the physical media I have.

Same here, all packed away after they’ve been ripped to flac.

I ripped all mine but have saved them all. Really tempted to by a modern CD transport like the soon to released Schiit Urd

With the expenses of a new old house piling up, I decided to use these felt boxes (navy blue with light natural handles) instead of going for custom shelves. https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/706748291/cd-storage-box-with-leather-handle-felt. They look good in the IKEA sideboard and slide out easily for browsing. Next up I'm going to mount a select bunch of CDs on the wall using these: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/983350163/cd-display-shelf-album-shelves-wall. That'll do me for a while!
