Probably designed in a similar way to the older Naim gear.  If so they will need a certain amount of inductance in the speaker cables to keep them stable, hence their warranty being void if you use other cables.

There’s also this:

NVA power amplifiers are designed for optimum performance with NVA passive pre-amplifiers. Use of an active pre-amplifier, or other active volume control connected directly to the power amplifier, may damage NVA power amplifiers and will invalidate your NVA warranty.

No real specs offered anywhere on their site.  No gain, no sensitivity, no output impedance for the pre or input impedance for the power amps.

If they're that sensitive to input and output impedance, then they'd have to have a fairly specific set of speakers that could drive also (I reckon).

Fine if you're happy to use their pre-amp, inteconnects(?), amps and speaker cables. As long as they sound good there should be no issue. But you'd probably get no resale on them...or they'd be like gold (I'm betting the former).

Lol must be used with our speaker cable, best used with our pre amps and interconnects , I wonder if they build speakers next , no thanks

Please discuss.

Yeah, this is beyond me, but hopefully some of you guys can comprehend what's going on.  Even if you're like me, feel free to enter the discussion.

As others have posted ... what a daunting spiel on their web-site!  :(

Why on earth do you want to pay that much money for these monoblocs - at only 80w output into 8 ohms (and an unspecified output into 4 ohms - which many spkrs drop down to) - when you could buy, for example, a pair of 125w AKSA 'Titan' monoblocs for less ... which don't care what spkr cables you have?

I'm pretty sure the original owner of the company passed away a couple of years ago.  His stuff was really quirky but the units i've heard have sounded fantastic.

I have a 3 chassis integrated sold by Surya?  That they did it with the cooperation of NVA in the UK but then at some point NVA was unhappy with the relationship.

The model I have has a particular type of speaker cable that I got with it at the time.

Mine is a 3 chassis integrated in high gloss wood cases and weigh a ton.   Has 2 huge power supplies.  When you unscrew the metal parts of the chassis they have NvA stampings all over them so i think they were NVA modules which Surya had put in wood cases.

They sound fantastic.  They definitely have a valve type of sound; interesting for solid state.

I think mine cost around $5,000 in the early 1990's.

I was told by someone who used to work there that they were the most coveted amp in the store (apart from the Ongaku in the window which was a totally different price and sound level).

Yes, the design isn't unconditionally stable.  There are no output inductors or impedance compensation of any kind.  Richard didn't like them, he tried them and thought they killed the subjective sound quality.  The lack of warranty was due to the fact that, despite lots of warning, people still used high capacitance cable with his amplifiers then became unreasonable when the amps blew up.  Yup, Naim amps were in the same boat.  His speaker cables simply spaced signal and return by using separate wires, he cautioned not to tightly twist them together.  IME, they aren't THAT sensitive.  I've used normal speaker cables, even mains cable worked OK, just don't use high capacitance/low inductance cables.

Input impedance is around 47k, gain is 30dB.  Max power, FWIW isn't huge, but models with a stout PSU would double down into 4 Ohms.  All models share the same basic circuit.  More dollars equals better case, layout, bigger and more power supplies (split rails: differential input, VAS, driver, output).

Yes, they do sound lively, the opposite of the dull chalky SQ more of the competition at the time provided and much more like the triode designs i was used to.

Yes, they do make their own speakers (cubes, sealed, near wall design).  I've not heard them.

LPG, i've never heard of Surya.  Can you provide any more information?

I suspect he means Surya Moorthy who ran Absolute High End in Burwood Rd Hawthorn back in the late ‘90s

They even have a Cable Trade-In Scheme.  Plus a quote from their website

NVA attracts serious audiophiles and independent thinkers and has always commanded a fiercely loyal following..

Whoops, tried my hand at just quoting one part without success!

Regardless,  I am pretty positive I know why NVA would have terminated their relationship with Suyra, it all got a little crazy there by the end.

Yep that's the reference.

Wasn't living in Melbourne then so only visited the store once on a trip.  What a trip it was (the store i mean).

Oh actually, I went twice.  One time they had a surround sound style TASS system.

My amps, speakers and analogue cables are NVA and sound fantastic.  Can't be beaten at the price. Direct sale with no dealers commission and 30 day return option.  The cube speakers will be back in production soon.

Far from being a restrictive factor having to use a specific speaker cable means I don't waste money trying alternatives.

You can use any interconnects with NVA amps but given the quality and price why not use theirs?
