Much as I love what Roon offers, I really wish they'd properly fix its functional issues.

The current release has memory leaks on Mac Monterey and constant crashes on Windows 11.

I'm tempted to go ROCK, but threads like this show that it too has issues.

Despite their other faults, for me Apple Music and Tidal always just work.

With Roon I'm in a constant loop of adjusting my hardware to make up for their deficiencies in basic software engineering.

It is very annoying.

A stable alternative is a huge risk to their business model.

I don’t know if this assists or not, but I use a nucleus + at home and have literally zero problems.  I have got into a habit of doing a full power down/power up on my modem, network switch, WAPs, and Nucleus + once a week or so and everything with Roon is always stable with no problems.

At the office we are just running an installation of Roon on a windows PC that’s always on but used for a number of other functions.  This is running windows 10 and almost never gets restarted or anything.  We just follow the prompts when Roon says something needs updating.  As far as I’m aware we’ve had one instance of Roon freezing in a year.

So yeah, I’m certainly not seeing any inherent issues personally, and certainly don’t feel like I’m in a constant loop of anything except listening to great music!

My rock running on an intel nuc is absolutely rock solid. I’d not have any concerns recommending this instead of the desktop versions of core for a stable Roon experience.

the biggest challenges I have with Roon these days is it randomly crashing the iOS remote app. The only fox I’ve found is a phone reboot so I’d wager that the remote software app has a memory leak or similar in it.

Same here. The Roon app occasionally freezes on my iPhone and/or I get a spinning wheel and a message saying it's trying to connect to my Roon Core. Never have a problem on the PC (which means, after saying that, that I will now be getting some). I have a Nucleus, in case you haven't looked at my signature.

I had the roon app freeze yesterday on my iPhone 13 Pro (iOS 15.6). The app became totally unresponsive and ended up having to power the phone off and on to resolve.  First time I've had an issue like that in a really long time.

I’m glad to say that aside from that one instance I had earlier just before we moved house - Roon has been 100% stable here. I rebuilt a new Rock and it’s been faultless.
i just wish each year when the fee is due that I had paid for a lifetime sub at the start- ahh well
