Sir Rab of Everest Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 (edited) Further information: DAC #4 up for sale Up for sale this time is my modified oppo blu-ray player, which i have been using as a DAC. Once modified (with amorphous core output transformers and schottky diodes), these players sound stunning (up to 32-bit, 192 kHz via USB). It was so good that I spent months trying to find a used player for a friend, but these players are expensive, and eventually I gave up! A nice feature of these oppo players is that you can use them as a passive USB or S/PDIF DAC driven by a media player or CD transport (as I did), or you can plug in a USB drive and use the oppo itself as the media player (as a friend did, exclusively). In the latter mode, I believe it can play DSD files natively. Oh, and rumour has it that you can actually play blu-rays with it too! ... and speaking of rumours, I did hear that it's easy to RIP SACDs with this thing, but I wouldn't know about such things... includes remote and oppo wifi dongle pickup preferred from Brunswick VIC, but can ship if necessary. Audition available if required. Edited March 28, 2022 by Sir Rab of Everest 3
