BugPowderDust Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Your system would be so much better with cable risers and an audiophile ethernet switch. "Just try it" 2 6

BugPowderDust Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 I find it interesting you put the front sub up on that ledge. I have considered raising the height of subs in the past. I need to give it a spin one day, likely in my next house.

I have considered raising the height of subs in the past. I need to give it a spin one day, likely in my next house. I just wanted it as close to the corner as possible. Modelling in REW didn't really show much effect at all of raising it that much, and measurement-wise it was pretty similar to being just in front of that ledge, but looked better with the light illuminating it
digoxin Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Just realised that you that you are using the Class D amp and the ARC in biamp mode I assume . Have they both got similar voltage gain or is that not a big issue? With two other large subs ........bass must be glorious. Also that looks like a back up March Audio power hiding underneath the ARC power amps.

The March Audio p451 monoblocks are indeed the backups in case I need to revalve the ARC power amps or something. Edited April 1, 2022 by Ittaku
BugPowderDust Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 If I ever head back into Melbourne at some stage, I'd love to give this a spin on that system: https://lakker.bandcamp.com/track/pylon Every time that piano interlude drops out and the distorted synth comes in, I get shivers up my neck. With the bass in your system and the room treatment, not to mention the speakers and electronics, it might even do the same to you. 2
AudioGeek Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Thats brilliant! Now you can sit back and simply enjoy 1

I tried streaming it directly from that site to begin with but it had a bit of the mp3ness about it so I looked it up and found it on Qobuz which was much better. I'm pretty sure you mean about 4 mins in, yep was great. Try this track if you can find it. This is now a mandatory regular in my reference tracks and regular playlist. Yamaha_man Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Great looking room and system, I've always been curious to listen to those speakers. 1
Lansche plasma guy Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Beautiful looking room and setup Con! It looks like it's from a high end Rob report style magazine. LPG 2

digoxin Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 (edited) ARC have responded to your need for more power with this. Imagine trying to find 20 KT150s replacements in todays market. Would also heat up your whole home. Edited April 1, 2022 by digoxin Spelling 3
Ittaku Posted April 1, 2022 Author Posted April 1, 2022 All joking aside, the only plan I have left for my setup is to upgrade to ARCs replacement flagship for the 750SEL whenever they bring it out. That could be a while away still.
dcathro Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 Congratulations Con on the completion of your room! I am glad to read that it is making a big difference in your enjoyment of the music! You now must have one of the best room/systems in Melbourne. 3
Ittaku Posted April 1, 2022 Author Posted April 1, 2022 I spent half of yesterday going through my reference tracks followed by half a day of Bach Cantatas. Vocals are just so truly wonderful now in the treated room. It's hard to know how loud to play music; the temptation is always there to crank it to 11. Then when I walk away to do something and come back I realise how freaking loud I've got it. I'll figure it out in time. I am listening to it cranked higher than ever on the dial to so-called "background" music, but I believe that's because the loudness has dropped a notch from the treatment. 3
Ittaku Posted April 1, 2022 Author Posted April 1, 2022 First get together is already booked for Monday with my regular partners in crime. I'll probably try to squeeze in a get together once per week after that, so all those that I've promised a GTG in the past will get their chance soon hopefully. 1

It would be presumptuous of me to say it's perfect in every way, as something I learned when listening to stratospherically priced system is everything at any price is always a compromise in some way. I tried hard to find what does everything very well, even if it's not best in class in each area, but is about as good as it gets in the areas that I'm most sensitive to in the way I listen to hifi most of the time. 3
