DAMO 1147 Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 A friend of mine has uncovered one of these in excellent condition. Are they any good and worth getting going again. Can the SN family shed some light on this unit for me please. Did they run a tartars 3000 as the turntable? thanks Damo
aussievintage Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 That has a cheap turntable (looks like a BSR) with a crystal/ceramic cartridge with flipover stylus. Not too great for the records. The speakers are probably full range Magnavox - at least they were in contemporary stuff I have had experience with. These look a bit bigger so might have an added tweeter. I would say the sound was decent for the time, but not compared to modern hifi. 1
Richard Tremain Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 A lady friend had a similar Radiogram in 1974 maybe the spk being all one unit. However the ceramic cartridge arm was i think more of a Cream coloured plastic moulding. It was in a Queenslander lounge room and Disco or Pink floyd anything really the dam thing had a lot bigger and entertaining sound than my Hi-Fi gear - be warned!
