AKM (Asahi Kasei Microdevices) finally restarting DAC chip manufacturing.

Well after a eighteen months break due to a factory fire in Nobeoka Japan AKM are finally restarting DAC chip production.

At this stage the only Advanced Velvet Sound Technology DAC's going  into production will be the  AK4493S & the AK4409R.

I'm pretty happy about that as my favourite chip was the AK4493.

I've just received a batch of sample chips so I will be starting on some new prototypes ASAP

Good news!

After all of the substantial Hi-Fi price increases I have seen very recently, this is very good news. Hopefully the war is over, shipping availability improves, no more factory fires and we get back to some sort of normal at some point in the next few months. That would be nice.
