G'day all,

I have 2 Analysis Plus power cables arriving soon. These are waaaay dearer, and I assume better  (yes yes,I know more $$ isn't always better) ,than the collection of PC's that I'm using at present.

My question is :  whats the general consensus on utilising them the best way. Would it be to use with my active speakers(SGR) or to use with my preamp and dac?

Before someone says..."just try for yourself" ,its not easy nor much fun in getting around to  the back of my gear,so if theres a common vote for a particular way I'll go with that, at least to start with

Thanks in advance

I would use the new PC's on the pre amp and the DAC. Depending on that impact you might need to think about upgrading the loudspeaker PC's as well down the track. Not a bad idea to give all your connectors a spring clean with something like CAIG cleaning fluid. Groan!

The topic of power cords is quite fraught with controversy, both here on SNA and across the internet.

I will take your question on face value, but beware, there are sections of this forum who love to crash these sort of threads with strong criticism of anyone seeking to provide opinion based on experience.  With that in mind, please be aware I have never used Analysis Plus PCs, but I do use aftermarket PCs in my system.

There are 2 purported ways PCs can improve a system sound:

1) is through improved current delivery (lower impedance), and;

2) by filtering out “noise” on the AC line.

High current delivery is generally a requirement for power amps, but not so much for preamps and DACs.  Conversely, preamps and DACs are generally more sensitive to noise (because they deal with low level signals).  I personally use my best PCs to feed my power amps, and I use an AC filter to feed my front end and pre amp.  Unfortunately the results for you will be dependent on your equipment and the properties of the PCs you use.

I'd lean towards the actives too because of my past experience with ATC actives. But the power cord I consider the best of a modest bunch in my possession (a Supra) works really well with the Audia Flight cdp.

So do the experiment and let us know what you think.

It has not been mentioned yet, it is debatable that Cable's need to be broken in  or at least settled in, just saying dont judge what you here straight away at least leave running for a few hours too see if you notice any improvements.

I dont know about your cable maker I have just bought 2 power cables myself still waiting for their arrival but the seller says he brakes them in using a cable cooker..

Also which model cable did you buy I googled the brand but they have about 6 models?
