W. Minc Records was a company and artist management agency set up by "Handsome" Steve Miller, ex Moodist and former publican of the famed watering hole the Standard Hotel in Fitzroy. For a while he ran Handsome Steve's House Of Refreshment in the Abottsford Convent. It resurfaced for a while (2014) in a new location. Not sure what he's up to nowadays.

That is interesting.Certainly a bohemian mob involved.

I have three CD copies .I bought one of them in a little record/CD shop near Pelligrini's.I grabbed it and told the owner what a rare gem it was -especially with Warren Ellis singing on one track which as far as I know is the only time he has been recorded singing. The guy said -"Yeah that bloke! He used to come and hang out in here and and I almost kicked him out because I thought he was a homeless bloke just passing time and wasting my time. Then he introduced himself."

here's a new release from Avashai Cohen: Ashes To Gold

On ECM so will be undoubtedly well recorded

< In blazing form, the trumpeter from Tel Aviv responds to the turbulent spirit of a troubled time, leading his dedicated band through a five-part suite that runs the gamut of emotions, by turns hopeful, despairing, outraged and profoundly melancholic. The melodic directness of the concluding “The Seventh”, composed by Avishai Cohen’s teenaged daughter Amalia, offers consoling contrast to the suite’s intensity. In between, Cohen turns his attention to the haunting Adagio assai from Ravel’s G major piano concerto, which has long been a highlight of the quartet’s concerts. Ashes to Gold was recorded in November 2023, at Studios La Buissonne, in the South of France. >
