Well a few movement and additions here

First out a couple of photos on how the LSA amp phono amp works, as mentioned it's like a external phono stage just built in - you connect your tt via phono in , then plug phono out into on the inputs.

As per the first pic using the supplied bus bars, but I managed to score off sna a 50cm kimber kcal cable which I used in place of the bus bars . Piccie 2

Sounded pretty good, but now , again thanks to sna I'm the proud owner of a dynavector p75 mk3 phono which mates up nicely with the 10x5 cartridge I'm using.

Still listening to this setup and comparing to the inbuilt phono stage, crisper more vivid springs to mind.

From ebay, I bought a pair of ATC scm40, came over from Tasmania with one careful owner and in very good condition.

Interesting to compare them to the Usher MD-1's but the ATC seem has good in the highs perhaps a little less fatiguing , while being very good in the midrange and the bass from the sealed box works much better in my room.

Sold the ushers sad to see them go as they did sound and look good, bit fancier the more traditional ATC.

But sound good they, very clear and they seem to stay composed as they get louder and not shouty, very happy with the purchase.

I wondered who got those Tassie scm40's. They looked pretty good and well priced. I was tempted myself but I have my heart set on some '50 l's coming up at the right price.

I went from a pair of mini dancer 2's which I thought were a very good speaker to a pair of older Atc scm20T and then swapped out these to later Scm20SL. You are correct about sealed box bass working really well. I've combined mine with a JL F113 sub via a Velodyne SMS and it all works really well. I don't think you can beat sealed speakers and sealed sub/s.

Mind you the ATC's do like some power, lots in fact. They only downside is that the louder they play the better they get.

Excellent speakers for a smallish room , tight clean low end and well extended.

Sound much better in there than the ushers did ,and look sweet too !

You don't see those PS Audio UPC-200HB around much any more...I have a vanilla HB just to block any DC offset on my mains...it was problematic at first until I discovered the live and neutral were wired arse about between input and output. They are a sealed unit so obviously left the factory like that. A reverse cable on the input solved the problem, I still use it today.

Thanks everybody for the kind words, always good to get positive feedback. I must admit the ATC are very good, as mentioned the bass out of them works very well in my room and they just don't seem to get shouty as they get louder. Maybe the tweeter isnt perhaps as detailed as the DMD unit of the ushers but then the dedicated mirage unit would seem to make up for that.

The amp seems to drive them well and the whole system seems to gel well.

Gat474 yes with the right sized room the scm50 would be a awesome speaker, the seller of those scm40 had upgraded to scm50. Be interest to hear what the new scm40's.

Masliko thank you, tho I would like a bigger room, the room has been made a nice place to chill out with encouragement from the WAF :-)

ah I see you have sneaked something in there !

very interesting inverted design of the dyns there cafe, often with speakers they suggest tweeter at ear level. I presume with the way the tweeter , mid and bass unit integrate their point of intergration is designed to be at ear level ie somewhere between them ? works well ? :)

Yeah its odd alreighty, more usual would have been tweeter, mid , bsss _ but that would have put the tweeter up very high. Perhaps mid, tweeter bass might have worked I'm not sure.

Certainly seated down they sound good and the bass is awesome, tight and deep even in my 4m x 4m x 2.4m room

Looking good.

Glad to see you spending money on TTs and not socks!!

I think I've seen that SP 10 somewhere before.

That's a great looking system and must sound fantastic.

Excellent update Cafe, why the change from the RP6 to the Technics?

I liked the rp6 and could have kept, but have always liked the sound of the sl1000 and when one came up for sale, couldn't help myself ☺
