shaky Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 And to think, I didnt even know this when I dressed in my best tartan underwear this morning. I'm not Scottish by heritage either so I can get away with wearing underwear as a man.
Guest Willow Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I am wearing my very best flanno to mark this auspicious occasion.

Guest Muon Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Thanks mate I think it resembles me much more than the old one.
hybridfiat Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 We were in Scotland in May and a freind gave me 2 of her fathers sporrans. Lucky me! I need a belt and buckle and a bow tie but otherwise am fully set up with kilt, formal jacket and waistcoat and a tweed sleeveless waistcoat. Might pick up a gillies shirt for the gatherings.
Guest Muon Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Nice! I noticed that both our clans were allied with Clan Mackay, the histories are very interesting I'm trying to visualise myself in full dress, hmm...

Guest Muon Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Not I, too far. Looks like a great time though, have fun. Edit: Some year I hope to make it, but it could spell the end of me...........I'm a sucker for a Lassy with a Glasgow accent, I think It's genetic memory at work. Edited July 4, 2013 by datafone

Married to a Lassie with a fife accent.
Guest Muon Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Colour me jealous I remember years ago as a teenager here, I occasionally had to act as interpreter for friends when watching Billy Connolly, he sounded normal to me Edit:  Is it lassy or lassie as singular, I understand lassies as the plural Edited July 4, 2013 by datafone
k-k-k-kenny Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Well I shall report in due course. My kilt has mysteriously shrunk.
k-k-k-kenny Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) I believe it's lassie either way - same as the dog. I endured youth being addressed as "laddie". Which, coming from a second generation australian father I thought a bit rich. But he married a girl from Lower Largo (Fife again) from whom I inherited crook teeth, so that made it all better. Guest Muon Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Having a farther from Paisley i heard it all my life, but spelling these things are another matter hah....30+ years here and he would still get frustrated when the person on the other end of the phone couldn't understand him..............I miss him. Also why Billy sounded normal to me. I hear this shrinking kilt phenomenon is very common
