OK - as promised, the report.

Was a great exposition of ye hiddly diddly music from a bunch of musos, and can strongly recommend Tolka (more Irish than Scots), Taliska (Scots - fiddle, guitar, harp, small pipes and other things), Fiona Ross (singer), Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club, Anna-Wendy Stevenson, Luke Plumb (mandolin), Peter Daffy ...

Plus talks about the bard from former President of the World Federation of Burns Clubs, Mike Duguid, highland ball, ceilidh, etc etc

The music seems to be the main thing. Relatively little of it was familiar to me - I figure that the players are sick to death of Loch Lomond, Flower of Scotland etc. So NOT ye shortbread-tin version of Scotland.

I believe that it will be on again next year, if you happen to be in the area.

Cheers aye the noo etc

Fortunately theres a kilt maker here in Perth who will do it properly.

I like Scottish music. There is a lot more to it than pipe bands (not that there is anything wrong with those). There are some excellent Scottish musicians making great music these days.
