What would be the pro/con between the megaphonix and say the MX10? Also what rear speakers ( doing a 5.2.2) are a good partner with these? in wall.  i cant see any dipole surrounds from krix.

The mx series is a free standing package that comes equipped with subwoofers, they also have an infinite baffle wall to minimise reflections. The megaphonix on walls require a little more customisation to install being an on the wall speaker. You could pair both system with phonix, hyperphonix or megaphonix.

I also believe it's recommended dipole speakers not be used in an atmos setup. But something like the hyperphonix 45's would be amazing.

@Krix Loudspeakers could give you more info then I could though

Thanks sup. I’m doing up a detailed email to them so I should have a layout soon I’d say. 👍👍

Just received my speakers from the legendary Rich at @oztheatre I got 3 X Krix Megaphonix and 2 X Volcanix Slims. I've had the best experience buying the gear from Rich.

I'll be setting up the baffle wall etc soon. Does anyone know where to get hold of some Martini Absorb XHD for the baffle wall. I've tried ordering through Mitre 10 but haven't heard anything back.

How much do you need, I've got a couple of leftovers of 48kg/m³ black Autex GreenStuf® Polyester Acoustic Panels (similar to the Martini stuff) 50 x 1200 x 2400mm you can have for free.

Testing out some movies and tunes with the new speakers. Obviously not in their final positions. Baffle wall build coming soon. 👍

Just wanting opinions on having LCR and 2 subs behind the AT screen, or  having subs on the floor. Any ideas on what would be best?
thanks guys 👍🏻

No experience with AT screens, but I've always wondered if subs (particularly ported ones) would displace enough air to move the screen. In a previous setup my 16" rear ported sub would lift my standard screen off the wall in some scenes until I screwed the bottom of the screen to the wall.

I’m told subs on floor will in most cases give the better freq response, so I’d be saying plan A is having them on the floor

Hey guys, thought I would post the update on my Krix Megaphonix and Volcanix slim install. I have leant so much from you guys here and wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone for all the advice especially @oztheatre for all the gear including the amazing 130" Acoustic screen, @Krix Loudspeakers for the advice and all you guys here. Cheers @Quark for your insulation, that went in there too! Here are some pics of the install and finished result. I used:

Martini Absorb HD

MDF

R4 Insulation batts

Bunnings acoustic felt boards

Acoustic rated sealant from Bunnings

Liquid nails

Didn't end up mounting the speakers as the baffle floor was spot on for speaker height and they sit flat and sturdy on there. I also have 2 other subs behind the seats

Martin Logan Dynamo 1000

Martin Logan 1100X

Sounds great to me.  No rattles. I am tuning in the subs with my new MINI DSP and REW which I am learning as I go.  I am not an expert, I just enjoy having a go. IMG_8139.thumb.JPG.c6a35d154e380ce90960b9a244385bca.JPG

Wow epic effort buddy. You will certainly enjoy that setup. Krix are amazing and where the value lies with these speakers is you're paying for the internals, not exotic glossy timber finishes.

This looks amazing.

I'm thinking of doing exactly the same in my room.

Is there a downside to using the space below the screen for your electronics and above for storage? I was hoping to utilise all that space as I don't have an adjacent space to house my electronics.

This thread has been really motivating!

Brilliant! I have the same front setup.

What avr are you using? Have you got it all dialled in?

I am using:

Yamaha A6A

Yamaha MXA-5200 Power Amp

7.4.4 setup with Martin logan surrounds and Krix atmospherix Atmos speakers.

I am using Minidsp and REW to tune the subs and the Yamaha YPAO for the rest. Any advice on dialling it in is welcome. I have 4 subs in total. 2 X Volcanix Slims and 1 Martin Logan 1100X and 1 Martin Logan Dynamo 1000. I have them near the back corners of the room but will try directly behind the seating position.

all good but the room is screaming for a HT paint job.

I hear you. Just got to get that past the boss.

Minidsp and rew should be better than an avr for bass management. I wonder if one of the rear subs near the coffee table mid room would help get a more even response.

Look up distributed bass array for integrating multiple subs.

MSO is well documented here

https://www.andyc.diy-audio-engineering.org/mso/html/

You should be looking at the subs only option, where you will be integrating the subs by themselves and then run YPAO.

When you use REW, you need to use a timing reference.

MSO can be quite daunting, and can take some time to learn, but the results are spectacular for everyone in the room.  Please let me know if you need help.

Wow great stuff setting up that room. I feel pretty special that this is my first ever post, but definitely warrants one!
I’m wanting to do the same for my single garage. Room looks a similiar size. I am interested in the MX-10’s and understand I need a baffle wall built in front of the garage door. I’ll end up painting the whole room too but for now I’m more interested in designs for the room and what will work realistically. Can’t wait
