nopoweradeinusa Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Further information: pretty good condition, only a few visual marks/spots on the speakers, I think someone left them in a room that was being painted as there's a few specks of paint here & there, one of the stands has faded as well sound-wise they're in perfect working condition , some of the best speakers I've heard, big heavy closed cabinets, don't think at this price point there's any floor standers that could hold a candle to them pick up only as they are quite heavy! 1 2
Silver Audiophile Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 (edited) I remember when I first heard a Duntech speaker. It was an old 1980s vintage Duntech Marquis at a Sydney dealer. In the same room was a new $60,000 pair of Focal floorstanders, which I had the chance to A/B with the Duntech all day long switching between them. I'll never forget how the Duntech Marquis sounded detailed, open, transparent, and musical. By comparison, the Focals sounded very muffled and 'closed in'. The shocking truth was back then, that vintage Duntech was selling for $1,000. It was then I realised, prices don't always correlate with better sounding. In this case- one was sixty times cheaper! After some searching, I bought my first Duntech in 2005 (a new Duntech Marquis). However, all of the Duntechs sound great. Now, I own the new Duntech Senators. Same principle still applies. It absolutely eats for example the Focal Maestro Utopia for breakfast in sound quality (no comparison whatsoever), but, at one quarter the price. Edited June 20, 2022 by Silver Audiophile 6

I heard one pair at my good friend @RobbC house & from then on I was pretty much set on owning my own pair, sounded as good if not better than $16000 speakers I have heard in dedicated show rooms, amazing imaging on duntechs 2

For example, my Duntech Senators are positioned with nearly zero toe-in. The resultant soundstage appears 3-4 times wider than my listening room and similar story with soundstage dept and imaging precision. If you look at your Duntech Ambassadors above, being of the Classical series, has 'Duntech's prime directives' of John Dunlavy- Sealed cabinet, time aligned driver (stepped baffle), first order crossover, flat response, and wide off axis response. Fletch02 Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 If only I could justify another pair of speakers. ANY Duntech for $1,400 is unheard of! They have to be gone by morning, surely. 1
