Tough for me to pick a favorite Sabbath album from the 1st eight.
If pressured I’d mostly likely say Masters Of Reality

Love the transition to The Straightener

The Straightener was a bit proggy for The Sabs.

I love it.

This album, their 4th, was where Black Sabbath really started to stretch out as musicians, introducing more melodic elements to their sound, and at times even a more proggy approach, something that really manifested itself on their follow-up Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Recorded in LA, it was also their introduction to Cocaine, which was used heavily during the album sessions. The band wanted to call the album Snowblind in obvious homage, but Warner Brothers quickly nixed the idea.  Indulgences aside, this album is a stone cold classic and one of my all-time favorites .

True

I eagerly awaited this release and at the time I was thoroughly disappointed with my first play. After weeks of repeated plays I grew to love it.

That's Tony Iommi on piano on Changes.

I know this one took the early fans like myself totally by surprise.

This is also Sabbath's first album without Roger Bain as the producer. The band produced the album themselves along with Patrick Meehan

Frank Zappa once told Tony Iommi that Supernaut was one of his all time favorite guitar songs and that the main guitar riff was one of his all time favorites as well.

Talk about high praise...
